Bharat Electronics Ltd declined 1.57% to ₹416.30 with the highest volume of 2.32 lakh shares. Asian Paints Ltd dropped 1.49% to ₹2,562.00 with minimal trading activity of 0.02 lakh shares. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd and Bajaj Finance Ltd also posted declines of 1.48% and 1.47% respectively, with volumes of 2.58 lakh shares and 0.85 lakh shares. In the current session, Bharat Electronics Ltd retreated further to ₹410.90, leading losses with a 2.85% decline. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd also faced pressure, declining 1.28% to ₹602.60 with a volume of 0.06 lakh shares.

Market breadth was weak with 1,136 shares rising, 1,806 shares falling, and 146 unchanged on the BSE.

Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd posted a 4.69-times volume surge to 5.45 lakh shares with a 4.51% gain to ₹303.50.
According to provisional data from Business Standard, Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) sold shares worth ₹2,457.49 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) were net buyers to the tune of ₹3,801.68 crore in the Indian equity market on May 19, 2026. This divergence in institutional flows contributed to the mixed market performance, with domestic investors providing support while foreign investors remained net sellers during the session.
