Crypto exchange WEEX has announced the launch of a ₹8,000 crore (1,000 BTC) Protection Fund as part of its comprehensive security strategy. According to reports from WEEX, this dedicated safety mechanism is designed to provide potential compensation support for certain eligible losses resulting from qualified security incidents beyond the user's reasonable control. The fund represents WEEX's long-term commitment to protecting user assets and establishing transparency in crypto security measures.
WEEX has launched the TradFi Trading Fest running from July 27, 2026, 16:00 to August 10, 2026, 23:59 (UTC+8). The two-week campaign offers new user rewards, first-trade protection, zero-slippage trading, lucky draws, and a 50,000 USDT exclusive prize pool for TradFi futures traders. New users making first deposits over 100 USDT and completing 100 USDT in TradFi futures trading receive a 200 USDT position airdrop (5 USDT × 40× leverage), capped at the first 5,000 users. The event features up to 20 USDT in trial funds for first-trade protection and zero slippage trading using the "Guaranteed Price" feature across 31 eligible TradFi pairs.
The 1,000 BTC Protection Fund is fully backed by WEEX and is strictly separated from operational funds, as reported by the exchange. The fund is publicly verifiable through blockchain records, providing users with independent verification capabilities. Unlike ordinary security measures, this protection fund provides an additional layer of support when unexpected situations occur, demonstrating WEEX's commitment to taking responsibility for user protection beyond asset protection alone.
According to WEEX, the platform maintains a Proof of Reserves system covering major assets, allowing users and third parties to independently verify reserve information through publicly available blockchain data. At the time of writing, published reserve ratios include USDT at approximately 102%, ETH at approximately 115%, and BTC at approximately 122%. A reserve ratio above 100% indicates that on-chain assets exceeded corresponding user liabilities for those assets at the specific time of the snapshot.
According to WEEX, the platform was founded in 2018 and has developed into a global crypto exchange with over 6.2 million users across more than 150 countries. The platform offers over 1,200 spot trading pairs and provides up to 400x leverage in crypto futures trading. Beyond traditional markets, WEEX is expanding in the AI era by delivering real-time AI news, empowering users with AI trading tools, and exploring innovative trade-to-earn models that make intelligent trading more accessible. The TradFi Trading Fest reflects this broader strategy of bridging crypto and TradFi under one platform, offering 24/7 access to global markets with tightest liquidity during traditional market hours.
