Revolut has connected its standalone crypto exchange, Revolut X, to third-party AI assistants, enabling users to analyze markets and prepare crypto trades through natural-language instructions. According to reports from crypto.news, the integration allows users to study markets, monitor accounts and prepare trades without returning to the Revolut X interface. Supported tools include Claude, Gemini, OpenClaw and Cursor, with Revolut also publishing a universal plugin and command-line interface for other compatible AI platforms through its official Revolut X API repository. The integration supports market analysis, custom alert creation, order execution for both market and limit orders, and strategy backtesting across over 300 tokens available on Revolut X.
The technical foundation relies on Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP), originally released in November 2024, layered on top of Revolut X's existing trading API. As reported by crypto.news, the integration traces back to an internal experiment where Revolut engineers connected Claude to the Revolut X API in roughly 30 minutes. That quick proof of concept produced a surprisingly functional market-making workflow covering inventory management, quoting, execution, monitoring, and alerts. Revolut has published a dedicated GitHub repository offering universal installation support across more than 50 AI applications, expanding the compatibility beyond the initial four supported platforms. The MCP technology enables Claude to read Google Drive, query databases, pull live web data, and interact with other software, transforming it from a chatbot into an active productivity agent.
Despite the AI integration, users must approve each crypto order before Revolut X sends it for execution. As reported by crypto.news, the AI assistants do not receive full authority to complete trades without a final human check. Revolut has warned that it does not operate, endorse or guarantee the third-party AI platforms, stating it would not accept responsibility for losses, missed opportunities or incorrect trades caused by an assistant's faulty output. The company also advises users to protect cryptographic keys that authorize real trades, as anyone gaining access to those keys could potentially control the connected account.
Users can ask AI assistants to retrieve live market data, review account balances and explain portfolio performance. According to crypto.news, they can create price alerts, examine open positions and prepare market or limit orders through plain-language requests. For example, traders can ask assistants to set up Telegram notifications triggered when ETH hits a specific price target, or backtest a grid trading strategy on Bitcoin over a 30-day window. Revolut's API documentation includes separate tools for authentication, market data, account management, trading, monitoring and strategy testing, with the new feature specifically designed for the crypto trading audience and operating at a deeper technical level.
Revolut X launched as a desktop exchange for UK retail clients in May 2024 and later expanded across European markets with mobile access for eligible users in the UK and European Economic Area. According to crypto.news, crypto services in Europe operate through Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd, which holds authorization under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets framework. The integration follows Revolut's rollout of AIR, its in-app AI assistant for general financial tasks, back in April 2026, which handled broader banking queries. This new feature represents a deeper technical integration, treating Revolut X's API as a core execution layer rather than just an information source.
