NEAR Protocol has successfully launched tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs on near.com through its strategic partnership with Ondo Finance. According to reports from PRNewswire, this integration allows eligible users in supported jurisdictions to access tokenized exposure to major U.S. equities including NVIDIA, Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon. The partnership leverages NEAR Intents, the platform's cross-chain transaction system, which enables funding through USD Coin [USDC], Bitcoin [BTC], or over thirty supported blockchain assets. As reported by PRNewswire, this integration connects near.com users to Ondo's tokenized securities platform that currently boasts more than $1 billion in total value locked (TVL) and over $26 billion in cumulative trading volume. The initial rollout includes 20 assets spanning tokenized US stocks, ETFs and commodity linked products, expanding beyond the original scope to provide broader market access.
The partnership introduces confidential execution built into the near.com experience, allowing users to buy, trade, and hold tokenized securities without opening separate brokerage accounts. According to PRNewswire, users can fund their near.com account with supported digital assets, buy tokenized security, hold the position, or exchange it back into USDC or another supported asset - all with confidential execution that prevents public broadcasting of these steps. Ondo Finance Head of Ecosystem Armand Khatri emphasized that their goal is for investors to reach tokenized assets from networks and accounts where they already hold capital, with NEAR Intents making this real by enabling users to hold tokenized NVIDIA, Tesla, or QQQ in the same account as their crypto holdings, no separate brokerage account, no bridging, and no second wallet. The confidential execution feature ensures that supported transactions are processed without broadcasting their details publicly, maintaining user privacy and security.
NEAR Intents demonstrates significant transaction volume with $137 million processed in 24 hours and over $3.4 billion over 30 days. According to PRNewswire, much of this liquidity comes from the supply of Ethereum [ETH], Bitcoin, and TRON [TRX]. The system enables users to fund transactions with current holdings located on more than thirty different blockchain platforms, eliminating the need for asset bridging or wrapped tokens. This design becomes crucial as tokenized equities enter higher-volume markets, where fragmented liquidity may hinder market participant involvement. The integration is powered by NEAR Intents, which handles routing and execution across networks without requiring users to manually bridge assets or manage multiple wallets. As reported by PRNewswire, NEAR Intents lets users specify the result they want while independent solvers handle routing between supported blockchains, connecting networks including Bitcoin, Ethereum, NEAR, Tron and BNB Chain.
Ondo's legal notice clarifies that Ondo Stocks provide holders with economic exposure to the value of the underlying assets, including dividends net of applicable tax withholdings, but the tokens are not stocks, ETFs, or ADRs. The tokens have not been registered under the U.S. Securities Act of 1933, and per Ondo's notice, they may not be offered or sold in the United States or to US persons unless registered or covered by an exemption. Additional restrictions apply in jurisdictions including the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Singapore, where the products are limited to qualified investors or professional clients. The platform may permit trading on select Ondo Stocks during off-hours sessions – principally weekends and U.S. market holidays – though liquidity is typically lower during these windows with wider bid-ask spreads and conservative trade limits.
