Jito Labs is launching JTX, a new consumer-facing trading terminal targeting what CEO Lucas Bruder calls 'pro-retail' traders. According to reports from The Block, the platform will initially support crypto spot trading beginning in July, followed by perpetual futures trading via a partnership with Phoenix exchange and prediction markets through an upcoming protocol. This represents a significant shift for Jito, which previously focused on Solana infrastructure including MEV and validator operations. As Bruder explained to The Block's multimedia team at Consensus Miami, 'JTX is set up to capture this next wave of traders' who are moving onchain in search of faster and cheaper trading options.
As reported by The Block, Bruder identified a 'new era of trader' emerging onchain who no longer identify as crypto traders. 'They're just traders. And they want to trade anything and everything,' Bruder stated, highlighting the evolution from specialized crypto trading to mainstream financial market participation. The CEO noted that Solana is already 'eating Ethereum's lunch' due to its speed and cost advantages, attracting mainstream users who prefer the blockchain's performance characteristics. 'Most new people that are coming into crypto to trade or invest or whatever it is are using Solana because it's fast and cheap,' Bruder emphasized, positioning the platform to capitalize on this growing user base.
According to The Block, Jito Labs has established itself as a core component of the Solana ecosystem through its MEV and validator infrastructure operations. The company's move from infrastructure to consumer-facing products represents a significant evolution in its business model, positioning it to capture the growing mainstream adoption of blockchain-based trading platforms. As Bruder explained, 'Jito's consumer-facing platform will initially launch supporting crypto spot trading, before moving on to perps via a partnership with the Solana-based exchange Phoenix and prediction markets via a soon-to-be-announced protocol.'
As reported by CoinDesk, the platform launch comes after Solana's memecoin breakout in 2024, which demonstrated the blockchain's ability to handle scale effectively. Both perpetual futures and prediction markets have emerged as breakout sectors this year, attracting users interested in trading real-world assets and events. 'On-chain traders are entering a new era. They no longer even think of themselves as crypto traders—they're just regular traders,' Bruder noted, with users looking to make bets on real-world assets, like gold and oil, and real-world events. The timing capitalizes on Wall Street's increasing onchain presence and Solana's proven scalability advantages, with the blockchain now 'running extremely smoothly' after handling the memecoin surge.
