XRP is currently trading near $1.49 after three consecutive daily declines left the token losing the $1.50 support, with the cryptocurrency testing the critical $1.37 support level where the 50-day and 200-day EMAs converge. According to CoinGecko, the token's market capitalization stands close to $95 billion based on approximately 62.9 billion XRP in circulation. The daily chart shows XRP held above its 50-day price exponential moving average near $1.365 and its 200-day EMA near $1.369 through the recent slide, with the 100-day EMA sitting lower at $1.307 as a secondary reference. Momentum has cooled rather than reversed, with the RSI sitting near 55 close to neutral and the MACD flattened around zero, consistent with consolidation after an earlier advance rather than an active breakdown.
CoinGlass data shows the long-to-short ratio at 0.975, meaning short positions marginally outnumber longs, while the funding rate sits at a positive 0.008%, creating a complex market setup where traders are still paying to stay long despite heavy spot selling. As reported by CryptoQuant, positive funding means demand for long exposure in crypto derivatives is real enough that longs are compensating shorts to hold the position, but this setup can flip into a liquidation cascade faster than one built on genuine accumulation. The combination of near-balanced positioning and positive funding creates what analysts describe as a fragile mix, with cryptocurrency derivatives showing overheating conditions alongside sell-side dominance in futures. Trading volume above $4.2 billion indicates continued market interest, though the token remains 58% below its $3.65 all-time high.
The immediate hurdle sits between $1.574 and $1.60, with XRP having repeatedly approached that region without establishing a sustained move above it. The daily Bollinger Bands place the middle band close to $1.43 and the upper band around $1.62, keeping price above its recent average while leaving it below the upper end of its current volatility range. The 200-day EMA is positioned near $1.369, which converges with the 50-day EMA to form key support at $1.37. A clean break below $1.37 opens the $1.30 area as the next line of defense, with a deeper slide eventually putting the $1.00 psychological level in play though XRP would need to fall substantially before that becomes the immediate focus. On the upside, reclaiming the $1.574 resistance level is the trigger that would strengthen the case for a move toward $1.90, with the base case being a dip toward $1.40-$1.42 that gets bought, followed by another attempt at reclaiming $1.50.
Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan has attributed part of the interest to XRP's long operating history and its association with payment and liquidity applications, describing XRP as "one of the Mount Rushmore assets in crypto." Hougan noted that advisors can connect the asset with payment-related use cases they already understand, as XRP is the native asset of XRP Ledger while Ripple separately develops payment, stablecoin and institutional financial products. Interest among wealth managers was visible earlier this month, with XRP generating more questions than any other cryptocurrency during a Bitwise presentation to roughly 400 wealth managers. The $1.80-$2.00 zone remains the valid medium-term target as long as $1.37 holds, with the current setup leaving no room for complacency on either side of the trade. A sustained loss of $1.48 invalidates the setup and drags the price toward the psychological $1.00 zone, making the current $1.37-$1.574 range a critical battleground between bulls and bears.
