The Ethereum Foundation has appointed pcaversaccio (known as 'pc') to its board, expanding the leadership group responsible for the organization's long-term strategy and governance. According to reports from the foundation, pc is a security researcher and co-founder of the emergency response initiative SEAL 911. His addition brings the foundation's board to four members, including President Aya Miyaguchi, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Swiss legal counsel Patrick Storchenegger, and pcaversaccio. The board serves as a 'security council' tasked with safeguarding the foundation's mission and ensuring compliance with Swiss laws, where the foundation is currently based. As per Blockster, pc will initially serve a one-year voluntary term, bringing years of experience in blockchain security, open-source development and Ethereum governance to one of the network's most influential bodies.
The appointment comes as regulatory scrutiny around crypto privacy tools intensifies globally, with the EF's willingness to place a privacy advocate on its board potentially becoming a differentiator in how institutional investors evaluate Ethereum's governance posture. By elevating someone who authored the Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto to the board level, the EF is making a governance-level statement about where privacy sits in its priority stack. pc has made significant contributions to the Ethereum ecosystem through his authorship of The Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto, a 2024 adaptation of Eric Hughes' A Cypherpunk's Manifesto applied to Ethereum, and Ethereum Privacy: The Road to Self-Sovereignty (2025). He has also been an outspoken advocate for user privacy and self-sovereignty, recently championing privacy-first technologies on platforms like X. His philosophy centers on 'unconditional' privacy across the Ethereum ecosystem.
Beyond emergency response, pc has developed several widely used open-source security tools for Ethereum developers. As per his personal website, these include CreateX, a universal smart contract deployment framework; snekmate, a security-focused library for Vyper smart contracts; and a historical database of Ethereum reentrancy attacks. He has also developed tools for deterministic contract deployment and white-hat fund recovery. His technical expertise spans blockchain security, protocol stewardship, and privacy-focused development. Recently, he contributed to the Create2Deployer tool, published on July 16, and previously provided input on the EF's treasury policy established in June 2025. His technical credentials run deep through his co-founding of SEAL 911, an emergency security response initiative designed to provide rapid-fire assistance when protocols get exploited. SEAL 911 has handled more than 3,300 tickets and coordinated over 125 war rooms since its inception, helping rescue more than $180 million in assets through its round-the-clock emergency response services.
The board appointment comes as Ethereum price prediction shows bullish momentum, with ETH trading near $1,920 and technical analysis suggesting potential movement toward $2,000. According to market analysts, the governance changes signal a shift in long-term priorities that could reinforce Ethereum's investment case. ETH has been trading in a range between $1,875 and $1,930, with the immediate technical hurdle at the upper end of this range. A clean close above $1,930 would put the $2,000 psychological resistance back in focus. The bullish case requires ETH to defend the $1,870 support zone and break above $1,930 with convincing volume, with targets around $2,000 and $2,100 if buyers succeed. However, near-term model projections for August still span a wide range, with most estimates placing support around the upper $1,700s if ETH pulls back. The base case favors continued consolidation between $1,870 and $1,930 as traders digest latest macro developments, with sustained spot ETF inflows providing additional tailwinds.
The appointment comes during a period of significant organizational change at the Ethereum Foundation. The EF has seen both co-executive directors depart and has cut roughly 20% of its staff, with several high-profile researchers and executives launching new Ethereum-focused ventures outside the foundation. The organization has enacted a strategic pivot that concentrated resources into a more focused 'Protocol' division, suggesting the EF is trying to do fewer things better. The foundation expressed pleasure in welcoming pc to the board, stating they look forward to working together to help steward Ethereum's long-term future. With DeFi exploits remaining a persistent drain on the ecosystem, having SEAL 911's co-founder at the governance level could accelerate the EF's investment in security infrastructure. The appointment arrives after a turbulent stretch for Ethereum's leadership, with a co-director's exit in June following a 40 percent budget cut that trimmed staff and spending across the Foundation.
