BTOB and Lee Chae Yeon's agency have announced a strategic partnership with Sony-backed Soneium to explore bringing K-Pop intellectual property and entertainment revenue onchain. According to reports from crypto.news, the collaboration centers on DayOneDream's WAVIST platform, which will be used to explore tokenizing K-pop IP following an earlier onchain bond that financed entertainment rights through issuance, repayment, and redemption. Sony Group and Startale Group developed the Soneium blockchain, creating a global entertainment ecosystem built to bring IP onchain as tokenized assets. As reported by crypto.news, the partnership combines DayOneDream's K-pop IP and entertainment expertise with Soneium's expanding global ecosystem to explore how K-pop IP and its associated economic value can move onchain at scale.
The partnership builds on concrete operational evidence rather than theoretical proposals. As reported by crypto.news, in May, WAVIST completed the full lifecycle of a tokenized IP bond issued to finance K-pop IP, running from issuance through final redemption and token burning entirely onchain. The companies have not disclosed the bond's size, interest rate, target artist, investor count, or sales territory, but this demonstrates that real-world entertainment assets can move through an end-to-end onchain framework. Cho Jong-hoon, RWA Lead at WAVIST, emphasized that "K-pop is unlike any other market, yet the way capital reaches this market has barely changed. The partnership with Soneium sits at the intersection of RWA, IP, and K-pop. We will open a practical path to invest through IP itself and create the most compelling product at a time when the world is watching this industry."
Soneium has adopted OP Enterprise's fully managed service to support its tokenized intellectual property plans, with OP Labs providing chain operations under a 99.9% monthly uptime target. According to the September 30 announcement, OP Labs will support Soneium's sequencer, nodes, monitoring, upgrades, and incident response through a comprehensive service-level agreement. The agreement includes round-the-clock on-call incident support and allows Soneium to retain ownership of the chain and authority over its roadmap and product decisions. Yuji Kumagai, Head of Soneium Protocol, stated that "We keep shaping Soneium's technology ourselves. OP Enterprise's support on chain operations helps us move faster on Onchain Entertainment, starting with Tokenized IP." The arrangement enables Soneium's engineering team to continue developing the network alongside the service provider.
The partnership will offer eligible users tokenized exposure to revenue from concerts, streaming and music rights of K-pop acts. According to the announcement, access for eligible users to these assets will be subject to applicable regulatory and eligibility requirements. As reported by crypto.news, this framing positions the partnership as infrastructure development rather than immediate retail access. Dylan Cho, RWA Lead at DayOneDream, explained that "K-pop is a market unlike any other, yet the way capital reaches it has barely changed. Our partnership with Soneium sits where RWA, IP, and K-pop meet, and it opens a real path to investing through the IP itself." The companies emphasize that nothing in the announcement describes a trading venue, purchase mechanism, yield, or specific artist product available immediately, with investor-protection and listing questions similar to those already surfacing in the broader tokenized stock trading debate.
Soneium is positioned as blockchain infrastructure built to power an onchain ecosystem for entertainment and IP, while DayOneDream manages K-pop artists, global concerts, and IP with its roster including BTOB, LEE CHAE YEON, MEMI, and 2F. According to crypto.news, DayOneDream operates across music production and publishing, video content, artist IP management, live entertainment and IP commerce through its in-house ecosystem. The companies plan to keep bringing tokenized K-content assets and their associated revenue streams onchain, giving eligible users new ways to access supported IP while creating monetization options for IP owners. WAVIST is a K-pop IP tokenization platform built by Pledge, a DayOneDream subsidiary, that connects cash flows generated from concerts, content, and artist IP to on-chain financial structures. Unlike typical crypto financial products that rely on token trading fees or price fluctuations for returns, WAVIST designs products based on cash flows generated from actual K-pop businesses, issuing specific cash flows from multiple entertainment operations as independent units with settlement records published on-chain.
K-pop has grown into a major global cultural industry, but the financial value it generates has largely stayed locked inside traditional ownership and investment structures. As reported by crypto.news, Soneium and DayOneDream frame themselves as early movers in changing this dynamic, giving fans and investors new access to IP they already support while giving creators new tools to raise capital. Yuji Kumagai, Head of Soneium Protocol, called K-pop "a powerful starting point for demonstrating what an on-chain IP economy can look like," adding that Soneium intends to keep bringing more entertainment IP onto the network over time. The partnership was announced at Tokenizing K-Pop: WAVIST Night by DayOneDream x Soneium during Korea Blockchain Week 2026 in Seoul, with the collaboration unveiled at a joint invitation-only event hosted by both companies at Raum Art Center in Seoul's Gangnam district. Soneium says it is building the infrastructure for a new era of onchain IP, aiming to give creators tools to raise capital and build alongside their audiences while drawing on the production experience and commercial pipelines of its core contributors.
