Frgmnt has partnered with Anchorage Digital to provide institutional clients with direct access to its fUSD stablecoin and sfUSD staking product through Anchorage's existing custody infrastructure. According to the press release shared with crypto.news, institutions will be able to hold, mint, stake, unstake and redeem fUSD without establishing a separate custody arrangement. The integration covers both fUSD and sfUSD, two assets operated by Frgmnt on Base, with fUSD being minted against USDC while holders can stake the token to receive sfUSD and earn rewards generated by the protocol's underlying strategies. As reported by Frgmnt, the partnership puts fUSD and sfUSD functions inside Anchorage Digital's custody and operational environment, where institutional clients can manage the process alongside other digital assets. The partnership was officially announced on September 11, 2026, marking a significant milestone in institutional stablecoin access.
As reported by Frgmnt, the partnership puts fUSD and sfUSD functions inside Anchorage Digital's custody and operational environment, where institutional clients can manage the process alongside other digital assets. Anchorage Digital Bank N.A. operates under a federal charter and is regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, providing services including custody, staking, trading and settlement. The company has expanded its range of onchain services this year, including integrating Lido in July to allow institutional clients to mint and burn wrapped staked Ether without moving assets outside its custody environment. According to Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley, "Supporting Frgmnt gives our clients another way to access onchain opportunities through trusted institutional infrastructure." The federally regulated crypto bank offers compliant custody, staking, trading, and settlement services for digital assets, making it an ideal partner as Frgmnt expands into the institutional market.
According to Frgmnt, the protocol takes a different approach from stablecoins designed primarily for payments or settlement because USDC deposited against fUSD can be deployed into selected lending markets. The protocol makes its positions and performance metrics available onchain through its own statistics tools and third-party analytics platforms including Dune and DeFiLlama. Frgmnt utilizes a dual token system where fUSD is minted against USDC with backing capital deployed across various on-chain lending markets, ensuring funds are put to work immediately. Users who mint fUSD can hold the asset or stake it for sfUSD, with rewards attached to sfUSD coming from the protocol's underlying strategies instead of being paid directly to fUSD holders. This approach separates stability (fUSD) from yield (sfUSD), helping to maintain stablecoin reliability while maximizing earnings. Frgmnt has been controlling inflows through capped deposit waves while the protocol scales, with the next deposit wave scheduled for September, so institutions won't have to wait long to get involved.
Anchorage Digital has expanded its stablecoin business following several integrations, including providing regulated custody for CADD in May and serving as issuer for Western Union's USDPT payment stablecoin on Solana. The company operates through several regulated entities including Anchorage Digital Bank in the U.S., Anchorage Digital Singapore licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and Anchorage Digital NY holding a BitLicense. Founded in 2017, the company has received funding from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, GIC, Goldman Sachs, KKR and Visa, with a valuation of $4.2 billion according to the company. The institutional adoption of digital assets is growing quickly, with demand having been there for a long time and regulations catching up. The Frgmnt-Anchorage Digital partnership provides institutions with direct access to advanced stablecoin infrastructure and attractive yield opportunities on platforms where they're already managing digital assets. By simplifying access, the partnership could generate significant capital inflow for Frgmnt and fUSD.
