Whirlpool of India reiterated that it is not a party to the proposed transaction or any related negotiations and is not aware of whether any potential transaction would involve the promoter's entire shareholding or only a part of it, or the terms, price or stage of the discussions.

The list of potential buyers includes large investors as well as a major multinational consumer durables company, with the deal reportedly in final stages and an announcement expected in the coming weeks. However, the identity of the buyer, the final deal value and other terms have not yet been confirmed. According to Mint, Whirlpool Mauritius has been selling its stake in the Indian business since 2023. Its holding has fallen from around 75% to 39.76% over the past three years. The promoter sold an 11.24% stake last year, following the broader plan to reduce its exposure to the Indian business. In its latest filing, Whirlpool of India disclosed that Whirlpool Mauritius sold a 24% stake in February 2024 and then sold another 11.23% stake in November 2025. The company has also disclosed receiving information from Whirlpool Corporation regarding its intent to reduce shareholding, including the sale of approximately 1% of its shareholding in 2025, which was disclosed to the exchanges on November 28. The company's total expenses increased 16% to ₹2,656.89 crore in the June quarter, while total income was up 12.43% at ₹2,795.64 crore in Q1 FY27.
