Westlife Foodworld has significantly revised its FY27 revenue target downward to ₹3,000 crore from the earlier guidance of ₹4,000-4,500 crore, citing heightened competition in the quick service restaurant segment and slow consumer spending over the last two years. As per Moneycontrol, the operator's Vision 2027 strategy, outlined in FY22, had initially targeted ₹40 billion revenue alongside high single-digit same-store sales growth (SSSG). Karan Taurani, EVP at Elara Capital, explained that "the earlier guidance was given some time back and FY26 has been especially disappointing for the QSR segment. In the SSSG and overall revenue have been under pressure in the last two years." The company's performance reflects broader industry challenges, with FY25 revenue growing only 4.3% YoY to ₹2,492 crore as SSSG declined to -2.9%, and FY26 revenue rising 5% to ₹2,626 crore with SSSG remaining negative at -1.1%.
Despite the revised guidance, Westlife Foodworld delivered robust performance in Q1 FY27, with consolidated revenue rising 12% year-on-year to ₹740 crore compared to ₹658 crore in the same quarter last year, as reported by Essential Business Intelligence. The company recorded a sharp recovery in same-store sales growth at 4.3%, reversing declines of 2.8% in Q2 FY26 and 3.2% in Q3 FY26. Operating EBITDA increased 10.8% year-on-year to ₹94 crore, with EBITDA margin standing at 12.9%, marginally lower than 13.0% reported in the year-ago period despite continued inflation in food ingredients, packaging and fuel costs. Akshay Jatia, CEO, highlighted that "the everyday value meals continued to see strong traction and remained a key driver of dine-in footfalls. We are acquiring more consumers, driving repeat visits and strengthening McDonald's relevance across everyday consumption occasions."
The company's omni-channel strategy continued to deliver strong results across multiple channels. On-premise dining and takeaway accounted for 59% of total system sales and grew 12% year-on-year, while delivery and other off-premise channels contributed the remaining 41%. Digital platforms strengthened their contribution significantly, accounting for 74% of total system sales, an increase of 150 basis points from a year earlier. The company's digital ecosystem crossed 55 million cumulative app downloads and now has more than 3.7 million monthly active users. To stimulate growth, Westlife has introduced a ₹99 priced value meal, improved McCafe proliferation to 100%, and increased drive-through count across regions. May and June recorded particularly strong performances with mid-single-digit SSSG levels, as reported by Westlife Foodworld.
Recent analyst coverage presents a mixed outlook on Westlife Foodworld's prospects amid the challenging QSR environment. Motilal Oswal recommended a Neutral rating with a target price of ₹550 in their research report dated July 30, 2026, based on 28x Mar'28E EV/EBITDA (pre-IND AS). In contrast, Prabhudas Lilladher has turned optimistic, recommending an Accumulate rating with a target price of ₹543 in their research report dated July 30, 2026. Axis analyst Suhanee Shome noted that "the company has demonstrated a strong execution track record, delivering revenue and EBITDA compound annual growth rate of 17 percent and 51 percent, respectively, over FY16–20." However, analysts at ICICI Securities cautioned that "limited pricing flexibility in the competitive QSR market and elevated input costs could keep margin expansion gradual." The long-term outlook remains favorable, driven by ongoing formalisation, rising disposable incomes, and an expanding dining-out culture, as noted by Axis analysts.
Expansion remained firmly on track during the quarter, with the company opening five new restaurants and closing one through its subsidiary Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt. Ltd., taking its network to 482 McDonald's restaurants across 79 cities, 10 states and one Union Territory. The business now serves more than 200 million customers annually and employs over 10,000 people. Westlife reiterated its long-term target of operating 580 to 630 restaurants by December 2027, with plans to open more than 60 outlets during FY27. The company is also strengthening its digital ordering platform, delivery business and McCafe network to enhance customer engagement and support long-term growth. As of June 30, 2026, the Company operates 482 McDonald's restaurants across 79 cities and remains on track to achieve its target of 580-630 restaurants by December 2027, as reported by Westlife Foodworld.
Alongside the quarterly results, the board declared an interim dividend of ₹0.40 per equity share of face value ₹2 each, as reported by Essential Business Intelligence. The company has set August 7, 2026, as the record date to determine eligible shareholders, with the dividend to be paid on or before August 29. Following the quarterly results announcement, shares of Westlife Foodworld fell to an intraday low of ₹472 before recovering some losses to trade at ₹489.60 during Thursday's session, as reported by CNBC TV18. The muted investor reaction reflects concerns about the company's ability to translate its expanding store network and improving same-store sales into stronger profitability while achieving its longer-term revenue and margin aspirations. Commenting on the performance, Amit Jatia, Chairperson, Westlife Foodworld says, "We have started FY27 on a strong note, with improving same-store sales and double-digit revenue growth reflecting the strength of our value platform and disciplined execution." Additionally, Essential Business Intelligence reports that Westlife Foodworld has appointed Deepa Vidyadhar Bhajekar as an Additional Director in the capacity of Non-Executive Independent Director for a five-year term, effective July 31, 2026 through July 30, 2031.
