Mumbai-based Waaree Energies Ltd announced on Wednesday (September 30) that its wholly owned subsidiary Waaree Power Private Ltd has commenced commercial production of a new solar inverter manufacturing line with an annual installed capacity of 1.10 GW. According to reports from CNBC TV18, commercial production on the new line commenced at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the company's Sarodhi facility in Valsad, Gujarat. The company confirmed that the new manufacturing line is strategically located at its Sarodhi facility in Valsad, Gujarat, positioning it to serve the growing solar inverter market demand.
Following the commissioning of the new line, Waaree Power's aggregate annual installed capacity for solar inverter manufacturing has increased to 4.15 GW from 3.05 GW. As reported by CNBC TV18, this expansion represents a significant increase in the subsidiary's manufacturing capabilities and positions the company to meet growing demand in the solar inverter market. The substantial capacity addition demonstrates Waaree Energies' commitment to scaling its manufacturing footprint to support the expanding renewable energy sector.
Last week, Waaree Energies announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Waaree Clean Energy Solutions Ltd (WCES) has entered India's specialty gases business and plans to supply ultra-high-purity gases and chemicals to semiconductor and solar cell manufacturers across the country. According to CNBC TV18, WCES is building a specialty gases plant at GIDC Saykha, Dahej, Gujarat, as it develops a domestic supply network for high-purity process gases and chemicals used in semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing. The company highlighted that India's expansion in chip and electronics manufacturing under the Semicon India 2.0 programme is driving the requirement for these gases and chemicals, which are currently largely imported.
The specialty gases business will be developed in phases, with comprehensive plans including specialty gases warehousing featuring multi-purpose storage and handling infrastructure designed to semiconductor-grade safety and purity standards. As reported by CNBC TV18, WCES will also establish a dedicated ultra-high-purity ammonia purification unit for semiconductor-grade ammonia and a phosphine/hydrogen (PH₃/H₂) mixing plant for precision gas blends used in doping and deposition processes. This strategic expansion aims to provide domestic supply across India, reducing dependence on imported specialty gases for critical manufacturing applications.
Shares of Waaree Energies Ltd ended at ₹2,370.00, down by ₹25.00, or 1.04%, on the BSE following the announcement. As reported by CNBC TV18, the stock movement reflects market reaction to the company's expansion initiatives across multiple business segments, including both the solar inverter manufacturing capacity increase and the strategic entry into India's specialty gases market through its subsidiary Waaree Clean Energy Solutions Ltd (WCES).
