
Triveni Turbine shares declined 5.77% to ₹599.95 after the company reported a 20.78% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to ₹51.1 crore for Q1FY27. According to Business Standard, the stock opened 5.6% lower at ₹590 and hit an intraday low of ₹586.10 on the National Stock Exchange. The weaker earnings performance was accompanied by sharp spike in trading volumes, with nearly 3 million shares changing hands by noon, compared with just 0.45 million shares in the previous session. Despite today's fall, the stock has been up 12% so far in 2026 and 15% over the past year, outperforming the benchmark Nifty 50 index which has declined 6.5% and 1% respectively during the same timeframe.
Triveni Turbine's consolidated net profit declined 20.78% to ₹51.1 crore in Q1FY27, compared to ₹64.4 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. According to Business Standard, this profit decline occurred despite the company achieving significant revenue growth during the same period. The divergence between revenue growth and profit performance points to pressure on operating profitability during the quarter. The deterioration in profitability was primarily driven by margin compression and higher operational expenses, with analysts noting that lower-than-expected gross margins, coupled with higher-than-expected other expenses, resulted in EBITDA margin of 11.6%, below the estimate of 16.5%. Earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter stood at ₹1.60, down from ₹2.03 in the previous year, highlighting the impact of margin pressures on bottom-line performance.
The company's revenue from operations increased 19.23% year-on-year to ₹442.7 crore in Q1FY27, up from ₹371.3 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. As reported by Business Standard, domestic revenue increased 27.4% YoY, while export revenue rose 10.8% YoY. Exports contributed 45.8% of total revenue during Q1 FY27, compared with 49.3% in the corresponding quarter last year. The latest results show consolidated revenue from operations of ₹4.43 billion, reflecting a 19.2% year-on-year increase compared to ₹3.71 billion in Q1 FY26. Total income stood at ₹4.71 billion, up from ₹3.94 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. Standalone income rose to ₹3,968 million and profit after tax to ₹505 million, with the company noting that a one-time employee benefit charge related to new labour codes had previously impacted full-year FY26 results.
The company's EBITDA margin contracted sharply to 11.6% from 19.9% in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, with EBITDA declining 16.8% year-on-year to ₹79.7 crore. According to Business Standard, gross margin contracted year-on-year to 42.6%, which was 190 basis points below analyst estimates of 44.5%. Margins contracted 18% in Q1 FY27 as against 25.8% in Q1 FY26, impacted on account of unfavorable mix and certain ongoing strategic orders. Profit before tax (PBT) declined 20.07% YoY to ₹69.7 crore during the quarter. Operating profit margin (OPM) stood at 11.59% in the quarter ended June 2026, compared to 19.80% in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, indicating substantial operational pressures. Margins were impacted by an unfavorable product mix, price escalation, and the delivery phasing of some strategic orders.
Order intake during Q1 FY27 reached ₹568 crore, up 6.1% year-on-year, with growth driven entirely by exports and the aftermarket business. Export Order Booking surged 53.4% year-on-year to ₹384 crore, accounting for 67.6% of total order booking compared to 68% in Q1 FY26. Aftermarket Order Booking also increased 53.4% year-on-year to ₹224 crore, contributing 39% to total order booking. As of June 30, 2026, Triveni Turbine's closing order book reached ₹2,180 crore, representing a 5.1% year-on-year growth from ₹2,074 crore. Export orders constituted 57% of the total order book, while the aftermarket closing order book surged 115.1% year-on-year to ₹624 crore, accounting for 29% of the backlog. The robust order backlog provides strong revenue and margin visibility for the coming quarters, the company stated. The company witnessed continued traction across Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe, particularly in biomass and waste-to-energy applications.
Chairman & Managing Director of Triveni Turbine commented that "As we had expected, the quarter remained challenging. We delivered revenue growth of 19.2% Y-o-Y, with Revenue from Operations at ₹443 crore. Order execution reflects the business environment and order intake of around a year ago. Margins during the quarter were impacted by an unfavorable mix, price escalation, and the delivery phasing of some strategic orders." The company described Q1 FY27 as a challenging quarter but said it delivered healthy topline growth supported by execution across key businesses and a strong order backlog. The underlying business nonetheless continued to strengthen, with the growing global emphasis on energy efficiency, decarbonization, renewable thermal solutions, and decentralized power generation creating a strong demand environment. The company maintained a positive outlook for revenue and profitability in H2 FY27, supported by its healthy order book and diversified market presence. While the evolving macroeconomic situation, particularly geopolitical uncertainties in the West Asia region, may cause near-term fluctuations, the company's diversity across geographies and segments positions it well to mitigate risks and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
