According to reports from Zee News, Tata Punch emerged as the top-selling SUV in June 2026 with 21,006 units sold, representing a massive 101% year-on-year growth from 10,446 units in June 2025. The Punch secured a 13.46% share among the top 10 models, demonstrating strong market demand for the compact SUV. This performance helped Tata Motors hold the top two positions in India's SUV market rankings. The top 10 SUVs collectively accounted for 1,56,014 units in June 2026, registering a healthy 34.2% year-on-year growth over 1,16,267 units sold during the same month last year.
As reported by Zee News, Tata Nexon maintained second position with 18,335 units, achieving 58% year-on-year growth across both petrol and EV variants. The consistent sales momentum across both powertrain options has contributed to the model's sustained performance in the competitive SUV segment. Maruti Suzuki demonstrated its market dominance by placing five models in the top 10, with the Dzire securing third place at 17,899 units. The Maruti Wagon R held fourth position with 16,952 units, benefiting from its tall-body design, practical cabin, and multiple powertrain options including CNG variants. The Ertiga finished fifth with 16,111 units, proving the strength of India's MPV segment.
According to Zee News, Maruti's Fronx secured eighth place with 13,135 units, cementing its position as one of the company's most successful launches in the compact crossover space. The Baleno rounded off Maruti's five-model representation with 12,488 units, continuing to attract premium hatchback buyers. The Venue completed the top 10 list with 10,776 units, holding its ground in the competitive compact SUV segment despite strong competition from multiple rivals. The Kia Seltos registered one of the strongest growth rates among established models, rising 84.8% to 9,654 units, while the Mahindra XUV 3XO recorded sales of 10,063 units to finish sixth. Notably, Hyundai Venue climbed to fifth position with 10,776 units, and Mahindra XUV 7XO completed the list with 9,244 units.
The SUV sales chart closely mirrored the overall rankings, with Tata Punch once again leading the segment at 21,006 units and Tata Nexon following with 18,335 units, giving Tata Motors the top two positions in India's highly competitive SUV market. Mahindra's Scorpio and Scorpio N (combined) secured third place with 14,097 units, while Maruti Fronx continued its strong run with 13,135 units. However, Hyundai Creta was notably absent from the June 2026 Top 10 list, with its absence likely linked to production disruption after a fire at one of its supplier's manufacturing facilities. The company had earlier disclosed a production loss of around 13,900 units in June, while confirming that manufacturing returned to normal from June 22 and that lost volumes are expected to be recovered during Q2 FY27.
