Tata Elxsi shares fell 5% in early trade to ₹4,425 after opening at ₹4,589.60 against the previous close of ₹4,650.70, as investors reacted to modest sequential growth and a cautious near-term outlook despite strong year-on-year earnings performance. The decline comes amid concerns over delayed deal closures, mixed demand across verticals and a more conservative growth outlook for FY27. According to The Hindu BusinessLine, the market reaction reflects investor concerns about the company's sequential performance and outlook despite robust annual results.
Tata Elxsi delivered robust financial results for Q4FY26, with net profit surging 28% year-on-year to ₹220.35 crore compared to ₹172.41 crore in the same period last year. According to The Hindu BusinessLine, revenue from operations grew 9.4% to ₹993.75 crore from ₹908.33 crore in Q4FY25. The company's EBITDA stood at ₹244.6 crore with margins at 24.6%, reflecting a 10% quarter-on-quarter growth. Profit before tax was reported at ₹268 crore, rising 11% sequentially and 21% year-on-year, with PBT margin at 25.6%. However, on a sequential basis, growth remained muted, reflecting delays in deal ramp-ups and continued weakness in certain verticals.
The company demonstrated strong sequential improvement with net profit more than doubling to ₹220.35 crore from ₹109 crore in Q3FY26. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, revenue also increased by over 4% from ₹953 crore in the October to December quarter. The board has recommended a dividend of ₹75 per equity share for the financial year ended March 31, 2026, subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting. However, for the full year FY26, profit after tax declined nearly 20% to ₹628.43 crore from ₹784.93 crore in FY25, indicating broader pressures during the year.
According to The Hindu BusinessLine, performance during the quarter was led by a stable transportation segment and a recovery in media and communications, while the healthcare vertical remained under pressure due to delayed deal awards. CEO and Managing Director Manoj Raghavan highlighted that the segment was supported by ongoing deal ramp-ups, a strategic AdTech deal, and a Tier 1 US telecom win. The company secured a multi-year deal from a leading global device OEM for its video and broadband portfolio. However, management highlighted that geopolitical uncertainties and global trade tensions are leading to cautious client behaviour, particularly impacting deal timelines and ramp-ups. While the deal pipeline remains healthy, conversion timelines have lengthened due to these macro uncertainties.
Brokerages remain divided on the outlook despite strong operational metrics. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, HDFC Securities maintained an add rating with a target price of ₹4,825, noting that while quarter-on-quarter growth was slightly below expectations, margin expansion remained strong, supported by currency tailwinds and operating leverage. Motilal Oswal maintained a sell rating with a target price of ₹3,350, citing a more conservative growth outlook, delayed deal closures and continued reliance on ramp-up of existing deals. The company expects growth to improve gradually, targeting higher single-digit revenue growth in FY27, supported by transportation-led momentum and recovery in other verticals. Brokerages broadly flagged that while margin expansion and operational efficiencies remain positives, the near-term growth outlook is likely to stay moderate amid macro uncertainties and slower decision-making by clients.
