
Quick commerce platform Swiggy Instamart has appointed Gautam Swaroop as its chief business officer (CBO). According to reports from ET Now, the appointment was announced on Wednesday as part of a top-level rejig in Swiggy. Swaroop will oversee Instamart's commercial operations, including customer-centric growth, category management, brand relationships and expansion. The appointment comes days after Instamart chief operating officer (COO) Ankit Jain and CBO Hari Kumar resigned from their positions amid a larger top-level rejig.
Swaroop brings more than two decades of experience across consulting, pharmaceuticals and technology sectors. As reported by ET Now, he began his career at McKinsey & Company, where he spent a decade working on strategy and operations transformation. He later joined Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, where he helped scale the company's emerging markets business from ₹37 crore to ₹190 crore in revenue. Most recently, Swaroop served as chief executive officer of the international business at hospitality technology firm Oyo, where he led operations across the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, China and Latin America, taking the business to profitability. According to New Delhi reports, Swaroop expressed excitement about joining Instamart at this important growth juncture and looks forward to partnering with business teams to drive growth and create enduring value.
The leadership changes come alongside other departures, with chief operating officer Ankit Jain and CBO Hari Kumar also stepping down around the same time. Swaroop's appointment is part of a broader strengthening of Instamart's leadership team. As reported by ET Now, the platform has also appointed Srikar Adavi as vice-president, Ad Monetization, and Hardeep Kaur as associate vice-president, Category (FMCG), among other senior hires. Menon emphasized that Swaroop brings deep expertise and a proven track record of scaling businesses in dynamic, fast-paced industries, which will be beneficial as they continue to deliver unparalleled convenience to consumers.
According to Business Standard, Instamart currently operates in more than 131 cities through over 1,143 dark stores and has 13.3 million average monthly transacting users. The quick commerce platform continues to expand its presence across multiple Indian cities while maintaining its focus on delivering convenient grocery and essentials delivery services to consumers.
