Sun TV Network reported a challenging fourth quarter with net profit declining 37.4% to ₹232 crore compared to ₹370.8 crore in the year-ago period, according to reports from CNBC TV18 and Business Standard. Revenue from operations fell 6.3% year-on-year to ₹883 crore from ₹942 crore in the previous year. The company's EBITDA dropped 8.9% to ₹390.7 crore while EBITDA margin compressed to 44.3% from 45.5% in the corresponding quarter last year. Despite maintaining strong profitability margins compared to industry standards, the decline in revenue and earnings impacted the company's overall quarterly performance.
The quarterly weakness was primarily attributed to non-recurring items including mark-to-market provisioning on mutual fund investments and impairment recognized on investments in one of its radio investees, as reported by CNBC TV18. Additionally, the quarter did not include one-off interest income that had boosted other income in the March 2025 quarter. Despite these challenges, the company highlighted that its underlying operating performance remained stable in a challenging external environment.
Despite quarterly challenges, Sun TV demonstrated resilience in its core business segments. Domestic subscription revenue for FY26 rose 9.7% year-on-year to ₹1,891.7 crore, highlighting the company's ability to maintain growth in its core subscription business despite external headwinds, according to CNBC TV18. The company also declared four interim dividends amounting to ₹12.50 per share cumulatively during FY26. For the full year, the company's net profit declined 15.42% to ₹1,439.58 crore compared to ₹1,702.08 crore in the previous year, while sales rose 7.83% to ₹4,334.82 crore from ₹4,019.87 crore.
Shares of Sun TV Network closed largely flat at ₹517.50 on the NSE ahead of the earnings announcement, as reported by CNBC TV18. The stock's muted response reflects investor expectations of the challenging quarterly performance, with the market focusing on the company's underlying business fundamentals and future prospects despite current headwinds.
