Helmet manufacturer Steelbird Hi-Tech India is positioning for significant premium segment expansion, with Managing Director Rajiv Kapoor projecting the premium segment will account for 20% of total revenue by 2032. According to reports from ETAuto, the company currently operates with a premium segment contribution of less than 5% of its overall topline, representing substantial growth potential. Kapoor emphasized that while the premium segment remains small currently, it is experiencing rapid growth and is expected to reach approximately 20% market share within the next few years. In the latest fiscal year, the company recorded revenue of ₹869 crore, with the premium segment contributing less than 5% of total sales. As Kapoor explained, "Premium segment (currently) is not so big… but it is growing and I think by 2032 premium market share will be approximately 20 per cent."
The company has set ambitious financial targets for the next five years, aiming to double its helmet production capacity to 2.5 crore units and achieve a topline of ₹2,500 crore. As reported by ETAuto, Steelbird Hi-Tech plans to invest ₹500 crore in capacity expansion over this period to support its growth ambitions. The company currently operates seven manufacturing facilities in Himachal Pradesh and three in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, along with an R&D facility and office in Italy. According to ETAuto, the company is scaling up its premium portfolio under its Ignite brand, its top-end offering, with plans to launch a carbon fibre helmet priced at ₹15,000 produced using EPP technology.
The company is expanding its premium offerings under the Ignyte brand, with Kapoor announcing plans to launch a carbon fibre helmet priced at ₹15,000 produced using EPP technology. According to ETAuto, Steelbird Hi-Tech already offers its most premium helmet under the Ignite brand, which starts from ₹3,000 onwards. The company also plans to introduce air light helmets, described as the lightest helmets in the world, all positioned under the Ignite brand to compete with top global brands. As Kapoor explained, "This is all coming in the Ignite brand. So, Ignyte brand will be competing with the top brands of the world." The premium helmet category in India is still small but expanding with rising safety awareness and shifting consumer preferences, supporting the company's strategic focus on higher-value products.
Earlier this year, Steelbird Hi-Tech announced an increase in daily production capacity to 60,000 helmets to meet rising demand. As reported by ETAuto, this production boost is supported by ongoing automation, process optimization, and capacity enhancement initiatives across the company's manufacturing facilities. The company serves the helmet market under various brands and across segments, including the premium range, positioning itself for continued growth in the competitive helmet market.
