
Sakarni Plaster (India) Ltd has announced an ambitious investment plan of ₹450 crore over the next two years to expand its manufacturing capabilities. According to reports from PTI, the Delhi-based company will establish two new plants - one for gypsum boards in Andhra Pradesh and another for paints at Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The funding will be sourced through internal accruals and bank loans, as stated by Chairman & Managing Director Ashok Gupta. Gupta confirmed the company is planning to expand manufacturing capacities across existing plants as well, with the total investment estimated at ₹400-450 crore.
The company currently operates 12 manufacturing plants, mostly located in Rajasthan, producing a diverse range of building materials including Plaster of Paris (POP), wall putties, gypsum boards, premium paints, tile adhesives, construction chemicals, waterproofing systems, and crack-resistant surface solutions. As reported by PTI, Sakarni Plaster's total revenue stood at ₹900 crore in the last fiscal year. The company sells its products through a dealership network, with North India contributing 70% to its turnover.
The Andhra Pradesh gypsum board plant will be established through a joint venture with Coromandel Chemicals Ltd, involving an investment of ₹150 crore. According to Gupta's statements to reporters, the company has already signed definitive agreements with Coromandel Chemicals Ltd to form a joint venture for the manufacture and sale of Phospho Gypsum-based green building materials. The company has also acquired land in Mathura for the paint manufacturing facility, with Gupta confirming the expansion strategy focuses on consolidating the company's market position in India's building materials sector amid what he describes as a phase of sustained expansion in the construction and real estate sectors.
On Tuesday, Sakarni Plaster launched its new gypsum plaster product 'Suntara' to strengthen its presence in India's growing building-materials market. As reported by PTI, Gupta emphasized that India's construction and real estate sectors are entering a phase of sustained expansion, creating significant opportunities for organized building-material manufacturers. The company continues to focus on POP as an essential material across residential, commercial and interior applications, with Gupta noting that POP remains an essential material across these segments.
