RPG Life Sciences launched Naprosyn ES, a fixed-dose combination of Naproxen and Esomeprazole, marking the first time such a combination has been introduced in India. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine and Rediff Moneynews, the pharmaceutical company has partnered with Archerchem Healthcare for the product, with RPG Life Sciences holding exclusive marketing and distribution rights across the country and Archerchem serving as exclusive supplier. The launch strengthens the existing business relationship between the two companies, as reported by Business Standard.
The product targets patients on long-term NSAID therapy who face elevated risk of gastrointestinal complications. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, by combining an anti-inflammatory drug with a proton pump inhibitor, Naprosyn ES aims to reduce gastric side effects associated with prolonged Naproxen use — a common concern among elderly patients and those with gastro-sensitive conditions. The combination was co-developed by Archerchem Healthcare and an undisclosed development partner, with the differentiated formulation expected to improve patient compliance and enable safer long-term pain management, especially among elderly and gastro-sensitive populations. The product addresses a significant unmet need in patients requiring long-term Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) therapy.
The partnership combines Archerchem's formulation expertise with RPG Life Sciences' commercial and distribution capabilities to enhance the company's chronic therapy portfolio. According to the official exchange filing, RPG Life Sciences will leverage its established Naprosyn brand and nationwide distribution network to support commercialization of the newly introduced combination therapy. As reported by Rediff Moneynews, RPG Life Sciences Managing Director Ashok Nair emphasized that "Naprosyn ES is an example of our strong R&D-driven approach to differentiated products, and the long-standing trust that doctors and patients place in the Naprosyn brand." Archerchem Healthcare Chairman & MD Anil Dhedia highlighted that "This partnership exemplifies Archerchem's core strength in developing complex differential formulations," noting that through the partnership with RPG Life Sciences, "We are proud to deliver incremental innovation that enhances medication adherence and brings meaningful benefit to patients across India."
According to The Hindu BusinessLine, RPG Life Sciences shares traded lower on the NSE, falling ₹30.30 or 1.06% to ₹2,826.60 by mid-afternoon on the day of the launch. However, the stock had touched a fresh 52-week high of ₹2,956 during intraday trade. The company's stock has gained over 27% in the past month and is up more than 510% over five years, reflecting sustained investor interest in the mid-cap pharma name. Market capitalisation stood at approximately ₹4,675 crore.
