Prime Focus shares have experienced a remarkable 320% surge over the past year, reaching a fresh 52-week high of ₹359 on Monday. According to reports from The Economic Times, this represents a dramatic recovery from the ₹85 low the stock was trading at during April 2025. The stock has gained approximately 50% in 2026 so far, though it experienced mild profit booking on Tuesday, declining over 1% to trade at around ₹346.
The renewed investor interest stems from the upcoming Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Ramayana film, which is scheduled for release in two parts - the first in Diwali 2026 and the second in Diwali 2027. As reported by The Economic Times, Ranbir Kapoor will portray Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi plays Sita and Yash, who serves as co-producer, plays Ravana. The trailer of the movie was recently released, garnering mixed reviews from film critics.
Producer Namit Malhotra has reportedly turned down a massive ₹700 crore offer for the digital rights of the movie for OTT release, according to Bollywood Hungama reports cited by The Economic Times. The rejection came as Malhotra is expecting a ₹1,000 crore OTT deal considering the scale and investment behind the ambitious project. The production house, known for stellar visual effects and animation, acquired visual effects house Double Negative (DNEG) in 2014, which later won eight Academy Awards for its work in popular movies.
Following shareholder approval for a preferential equity issuance, Ranbir Kapoor reportedly acquired 12.5 lakh shares in Prime Focus at ₹120 apiece, translating to an estimated investment of around ₹15 crore back in July 2025, as reported by The Economic Times. This strategic investment by the Bollywood actor has significantly boosted investor sentiment for the production house backing the film.
Despite recent volatility, Prime Focus shares have demonstrated strong long-term performance, gaining more than 400% in five years. According to The Economic Times, the stock's trajectory reflects growing investor confidence in the company's visual effects capabilities and its role in the ambitious Ramayana project. The production house's expertise in visual effects, animation, and post-production continues to attract attention from both investors and the film industry.
