Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has released a technical book titled 'Akshay Urja ke Vidyut Grid Samanvayan mein HVDC Pranali ki Bhumika' (Role of HVDC Systems in Grid Integration of Renewable Energy). According to reports from ZeeBiz, the book was released by Nityanand Rai and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Ministers of State for Home Affairs, during the Hindi Diwas 2026 and the 6th Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan, held at Navi Mumbai. Dr Yatindra Dwivedi, Director (Personnel), POWERGRID, was present on the occasion.
The book addresses the highly technical and contemporary subject of high voltage direct current (HVDC) systems and their role in integration of renewable energy with the electricity grid. As reported by ZeeBiz, the publication seeks to present complex technical concepts related to HVDC technology and renewable energy grid integration in Hindi in a simple and accessible manner. The book is expected to serve as a useful reference for POWERGRID employees as well as students of science and engineering, with the initiative aimed at facilitating greater availability of technical knowledge in Hindi, particularly in specialised areas of power transmission and grid technology.
According to reports from ZeeBiz, as of May 31, POWERGRID has commissioned and is operating 291 substations, more than 1,85,750 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 6,30,516 MVA of transformation capacity. The company has maintained an average transmission system availability of over 99.84 per cent through the adoption of advanced technologies, automation, and digital solutions. This infrastructure demonstrates POWERGRID's significant role in India's power transmission network.
As reported by ZeeBiz, the creation of technical literature in Hindi will contribute towards strengthening the use of Hindi as a language of technical and scientific knowledge and help bridge the gap between 'Rajbhasha' (official language) and specialised technical subjects. The initiative reflects POWERGRID's efforts towards promoting the use of official language Hindi in the fields of science, engineering and technology, supporting the broader goal of making technical knowledge accessible in the national language.
