Shares of Orient Technologies surged 12% in Monday's trading session, hitting an intraday high of ₹290 after the company announced a fresh order win from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). According to Live Mint, this represents a significant turnaround for the small-cap IT solutions provider, which has struggled with volatility throughout 2026. The stock has been down 37% in 2026 but has rallied recently, gaining 11% in July and turning positive for the month. However, the shares have remained volatile with the stock ending six of the last nine months in the red, with March emerging as the worst-performing month after it plunged 24%, followed by declines of 22.3% in November and 20% in January.
Orient Technologies has secured a significant purchase order from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) for server supply and provision, valued at ₹76.2 crore excluding GST. According to the company's regulatory filing, the order is scheduled for execution over 18 weeks and includes servers with End-of-Sale support and a seven-year warranty, backed by back-to-back support from the OEM. The contract has been awarded by NPCI, the umbrella organisation for retail payments and settlement systems in India. As per CNBC TV18, the company stated that the engagement does not involve any interest from the promoter, promoter group or group companies in the awarding entity, and the order also does not fall under related party transactions. The disclosure was made under SEBI Listing Regulations and signed by Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Baliram Sawant.
This contract represents a material win for Orient Technologies, as it accounts for approximately 8.75% of the company's entire FY26 standalone revenue of ₹870.67 crore. The order further strengthens Orient Technologies' position in delivering enterprise infrastructure solutions and reinforces its capabilities in the IT infrastructure segment, particularly in executing large-scale technology projects. The company stated that this contract demonstrates its ability to handle complex technology projects and reinforces its position in the enterprise infrastructure market. According to CNBC TV18, the company offers comprehensive IT solutions including data centre solutions, servers, storage, active and passive networking components, collaboration solutions, security solutions, end-user computing, cloud and data management services, and IT-enabled services including migration of workload from data centres to cloud. This order adds substantial revenue visibility and validates the firm's capabilities in delivering enterprise-grade hardware solutions to major financial market utilities.
On May 27, 2026, Orient Technologies reported audited FY26 total standalone revenue of ₹870.67 crore, representing a growth of approximately 2.88% YoY from ₹846.29 crore in FY25. However, standalone Profit Before Tax and Exceptional Items fell to ₹28.76 crore in FY26 compared to ₹68.02 crore in FY25, marking a decline of 57.72% YoY. The company's order book in hand for FY27 stood at approximately ₹400 crore as of May 2026, with this newly won ₹76.2 crore NPCI order directly expanding and enhancing pipeline visibility. The aggressive 18-week execution timeline presents operational challenges, and hardware orders typically carry lower margins than managed services. The sharp correction has significantly eroded retail investors' wealth, with public shareholders collectively holding a 29.3% stake in the company as of the end of the June quarter, according to Trendlyne data.
According to Trendlyne data, more than 20 retail shareholders with holdings exceeding ₹2 lakh collectively owned a 1.97% stake in the company, while investors with holdings of up to ₹2 lakh held another 23% stake. Promoters held the remaining 70.7% stake, with Ajay Baliram Sawant and Ujwal Arvind Mhatre each owning 17.61%, while Jayesh Manharlal Shah and Umesh Navnitlal Shah each held 17.6%. On March 27, 2026, shareholders approved extending the utilization timeline of IPO proceeds up to March 31, 2027. Additionally, CEO Mr. Shrihari Kishor Bhat resigned effective April 29, 2026, marking a significant leadership transition for the company. The securement of this ₹76.2 crore contract from NPCI is expected to generate positive market sentiment for ORIENTTECH shares in the near term, offering solid institutional verification and order book expansion. India's payment system utilities are scaling infrastructure to accommodate expanding digital transaction volumes, directly benefiting localized system integrators and IT infrastructure players like Orient Technologies.
