
NTPC Green Energy Ltd. has announced plans to raise ₹2,500 crore through unsecured non-convertible debentures (NCDs) on July 9, 2026, according to a regulatory filing. The debentures will carry a coupon rate of 7.27% per annum and have a tenor of 10 years, maturing on July 9, 2036. This marks the first issue of debentures under board approval granted on May 22, 2026. The proceeds will be utilized for financing capital expenditure, including refinancing and recoupment of existing capital expenditure, extending financing to subsidiaries and joint ventures through inter-corporate loans, and other general corporate purposes.
In a separate filing, NTPC Green Energy announced that the first part capacity of 50.4 MW of the Vanki Wind Energy Project in Nakhatrana, Kutch, Gujarat, has been declared under commercial operation with effect from 00:00 hours on July 8, 2026. The project is developed by the company's wholly owned subsidiary NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. Following this commissioning, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy group has increased to 10,721.80 MW, as reported in the regulatory filing. The disclosure was made to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, confirming that the capacity addition is now part of the group's operational assets.
With the addition of the 50.4 MW capacity, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy group has increased to 10,721.80 MW, up from the previous commercial capacity of 10,671.40 MW. However, the commissioning has a broader impact across the entire NTPC Group. As per Business Standard, with this development, the total installed capacity of NTPC group stands at 90,954 MW and commercial capacity at 89,874 MW. The debentures are proposed to be listed on the NSE, with the debenture trust deed to be executed within the prescribed regulatory period. The company has informed that the debentures will be issued through a private placement, with the proceeds specifically earmarked for expansion and corporate purposes.
Shares of NTPC Green Energy Ltd. ended 2.56% lower at ₹92.60 on the NSE on Tuesday, according to market data. The decline occurred despite the company's announcement of both the debt fundraising initiative and the successful commissioning of its wind project capacity. Historical stock performance shows mixed results, with the stock declining 13.31% over the past year and 23.80% over five years, though it has shown some recovery with a 0.03% gain over the past day.
