
State-owned NMDC Ltd. reported a 44.26% year-on-year increase in iron ore production to 5.15 million tonnes (MT) in June 2026, compared with 3.57 MT in June 2025, as reported by Business Standard. Sales also rose 11.17% to 3.98 MT during the same period. However, on a sequential basis, production declined 3% from 5.31 MT in May, while sales slipped 1.5% from 4.04 MT in the previous month.
Chhattisgarh remained NMDC's largest production hub during June 2026, with iron ore output rising to 3.58 MT from 2.28 MT a year earlier, according to Business Standard. Sales from the state also increased to 2.79 MT, compared with 2.34 MT in June 2025. In Karnataka, production rose to 1.57 MT from 1.29 MT year ago, though sales from the state edged lower to 1.19 MT compared with 1.24 MT in the corresponding month last year.
The production update follows a strong March quarter performance, as reported by CNBC TV18. NMDC reported a 36% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹2,017.6 crore for the quarter ended March 2026. Revenue from operations surged 61.9% to ₹11,343.1 crore from ₹7,004.6 crore a year earlier, driven by higher contributions from its iron ore and steel-related businesses. The company also reported a 35.03% jump in standalone net profit to ₹2,020.13 crore on a 60.69% jump in revenue from operations to ₹11,173.14 crore in Q4 FY26 over Q4 FY25, as per Business Standard.
Shares of NMDC Ltd. rose 2.04% to ₹86.12 following the strong production and financial performance data, according to Business Standard. The positive market reaction reflects investor confidence in the company's operational performance and growth trajectory across its key mining operations.
