
Two of India's leading FMCG companies delivered robust June-quarter results, with Nestle India reporting a 48% increase in net profit to ₹959 crore from ₹647 crore in the year-ago period, while Tata Consumer Products posted a 28% profit growth to ₹427 crore from ₹334 crore. According to reports from The Economic Times, Nestle India outpaced its peer with a 25% year-on-year rise in net sales to ₹6,073 crore from ₹4,860 crore, compared to Tata Consumer Products' 12% increase in net sales to ₹5,349 crore from ₹4,779 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Both companies demonstrated strong operational performance with Nestle India's EBITDA rising 41% to ₹1,523 crore and EBITDA margin improving by 270 basis points to 23.93%. As reported by The Economic Times, Tata Consumer Products' EBITDA increased 19% to ₹724 crore with EBITDA margin improving by 80 basis points to 13.54%. The companies attributed their strong performance to steady revenue growth and improving operational efficiency across their product portfolios.
Nestle India reported that all four product groups delivered strong double-digit growth, with the powdered and liquid beverages segment recording its 20th consecutive quarter of double-digit growth. According to reports from The Economic Times, the company's coffee business benefited from increased penetration, accelerated premiumization, and deeper category relevance across consumer segments. Tata Consumer Products saw strong performance across multiple segments, with coffee revenue growing 24% and Tata Sampann's whole spices business posting 58% revenue growth.
Both companies focused on expanding their market presence and introducing new products. As reported by The Economic Times, Tata Consumer Products opened four new Tata Starbucks stores during the quarter, ending with 498 stores in India. The company's ready-to-drink business delivered 41% revenue growth with new flavour variants introduced in Tetley Kombucha Zero. Nestle India highlighted strong momentum in e-commerce and quick commerce channels, with organized trade business delivering double-digit growth across key categories.
Following the earnings announcements, both companies saw positive market reactions with Nestle India shares surging as much as 2.4% and Tata Consumer Products shares gaining 2.1% since their earnings were declared last week. According to reports from The Economic Times, nearly 70 companies will post Q1 FY27 earnings on Tuesday, July 28, indicating continued focus on FMCG sector performance and investor interest in consumer goods companies.
