Ecommerce marketplace Meesho expects to create over 1 million seasonal job opportunities across its seller and logistics ecosystem to meet the surge in demand during the upcoming festive season. According to the company's latest statement, approximately 6.5 lakh jobs will be created within Meesho's extensive seller network, while about 3.75 lakh roles across its logistics operations will be generated. The announcement comes as major ecommerce players in India gear up for their annual festive sales, which typically account for a significant portion of their yearly volumes. As per Meesho, the festive period has become a critical growth window for businesses tied to its ecosystem.
Nearly 1.3 lakh sellers are expected to hire seasonal workers across packaging, manufacturing, production, warehousing and inventory management as they build inventory, launch new products and expand their festive collections. As reported by Meesho, sellers on the platform typically use the festive window to ramp up production and expand their catalogues ahead of peak demand. The company emphasized that the festive season continues to create meaningful economic opportunities across the ecosystem, enabling sellers and logistics partners to grow their businesses while creating jobs across India.
In the logistics sector, Meesho's own logistics platform, Valmo, along with its third-party logistics (3PL) partners, will scale up capacity significantly. According to Meesho, the seasonal roles in this segment will span delivery, sortation, hub operations, and supervisory functions. This comprehensive approach ensures that the logistics infrastructure can handle the increased demand during the festive period, supporting the overall job creation initiative across the ecosystem. The network is gearing up to move a significantly higher volume of parcels through the season, as reported by a Meesho spokesperson.
