Mahindra and Mahindra delivered strong operational performance in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, with production rising 19.2% year-on-year to 1.22 lakh units and sales growing 16.3% to 1.14 lakh units. According to the company's latest business update, this double-digit growth demonstrates robust demand across the automaker's product portfolio. The production milestone of 1.22 lakh units represents significant capacity utilization and reflects the company's ability to meet growing market demand.
In the first quarter of FY27, M&M posted mixed financial results that exceeded Street estimates on profit and revenue while falling short on operational performance. The company's standalone net profit jumped 6.8% year-on-year to ₹3,685 crore, surpassing the Bloomberg consensus estimate of ₹3,569 crore. Revenue increased 23% YoY to ₹41,920 crore, marginally beating the Street estimate of ₹41,845 crore. However, EBITDA climbed 7.9% YoY to ₹5,111 crore, missing the consensus estimate of ₹5,353 crore, with EBITDA margin contracting to 12.2% from 13.9% a year earlier, below the estimated 12.8%.
On a consolidated basis, M&M's performance was even more impressive, with revenue from operations surging to ₹57,533.4 crore in Q1 FY27 from ₹45,435.8 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26. The Profit After Tax (PAT) also surged to ₹5,997.56 crore compared to ₹4,376.5 crore in the year-ago period. This consolidated growth reflects the company's strong performance across its diversified business segments and successful integration of recent acquisitions.
Despite the strong quarterly performance, brokerages maintain cautious optimism about M&M's prospects. Citi noted that while EBITDA was marginally below expectations and profit was supported by higher other income, it remains cautiously optimistic citing continued momentum in electric vehicles and positive rural sentiment. Morgan Stanley flagged near-term pressure on farm margins but expects earnings to recover in the second half of FY27. Macquarie described M&M as well positioned to navigate macro headwinds with a strong SUV pipeline and resilient tractor demand, while Kotak Securities characterized the quarter as a marginal miss due to weaker automotive profitability amid commodity headwinds.
