Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Ltd. announced on Thursday that it has secured a 'mega' order worth up to ₹15,000 crore ($1.57 billion) to build India's largest NVIDIA B300 AI factory. According to reports from CNBC TV18 and Business Standard, L&T classifies orders in the ₹10,000 crore to ₹15,000 crore range as 'mega' orders, making this a significant milestone for the infrastructure conglomerate. The order secured by L&T's AI infrastructure subsidiary, LTN Compute, marks L&T's strategic foray into the AI factory business through its subsidiary Vyoma.AI, with the company not disclosing the exact order value. The project is part of a strategic partnership with US-based Together AI, with L&T installing the NVIDIA B300 AI Factory at Vyoma.AI's Chennai data centre campus. This represents L&T's first step into building 'AI Factories', aiming to level up its own AI capabilities and establish itself as a major player in India's AI infrastructure sector.
The integrated AI factory will feature capacity of 10,000 NVIDIA B300 GPUs and will be hosted at L&T's Chennai data centre campus. These powerful computer chips are used to train and run artificial intelligence systems, with the facility powering Together AI's AI-native cloud platform for large-scale training and interference workloads. L&T's Vyoma.AI subsidiary, via its AI infrastructure subsidiary LTN Compute, has secured what is described as 'India's largest single-cluster AI infrastructure' for a US-based AI cloud innovator. The setup features high-speed networking and ultra-low latency connections, positioning India as an AI powerhouse. The AI Factory will bring together data centre capacity, NVIDIA's high-performance computing systems, networking, storage and related infrastructure at a single location, allowing customers to run and scale AI applications without having to build the underlying infrastructure themselves. The platform combines hyperscale data centre infrastructure, accelerated computing, high-performance networking, ultra-low-latency interconnects, high-throughput parallel storage and AI infrastructure operations, enabling customers to seamlessly deploy and scale AI workloads through a unified, end-to-end AI infrastructure stack.
According to the exchange filing reported by CNBC TV18, Vyoma's Chennai data centre campus represents a gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure site with Phase 1 designed for 250 MW capacity and power infrastructure readiness of 150 MVA. The platform combines hyperscale data centre infrastructure, accelerated computing, high-performance networking, ultra-low-latency interconnects, high-throughput parallel storage and AI infrastructure operations. LTN Compute is building AI-ready digital infrastructure across India via hyperscale AI datacenters, sovereign cloud platforms, AI factory services, GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) and managed AI platforms. The large power and data centre base will allow the AI Factory to expand in the future, with customers able to deploy and increase their AI workloads through one common infrastructure platform. As per multiple reports, the facility will support Together AI's AI-native cloud platform, catering to large-scale AI training, inference and fine-tuning workloads, strengthening India's AI infrastructure ecosystem while supporting global innovation.
Earlier this week, L&T entered into an agreement to transfer its data centre and cloud services business to Vyoma.AI Ltd for ₹1,400 crore, marking a significant strategic restructuring. This transaction positions Vyoma.AI as L&T's dedicated AI infrastructure arm, enabling the company to focus on building India's AI manufacturing capabilities. Commenting on the development, S N Subrahmanyan, Chairman & Managing Director of L&T, said: "Artificial Intelligence is becoming foundational to every industry and AI Factories will power this transformation. Our deployment of an NVIDIA B300 AI Factory for Together AI marks a significant milestone in L&T's Gigawatt AI Infrastructure Mission and reinforces our commitment to making India a global hub for next-generation AI infrastructure." Together AI, the US-based AI firm partnering with L&T, has been actively expanding its infrastructure partnerships, having also signed a $240 million multi-year deal with IBM to build a large-scale artificial intelligence cluster on IBM Cloud using NVIDIA systems. Based in San Francisco, Together AI was last valued at about $8.3 billion in July and counts NVIDIA among its clients. The company's platform lets enterprises train and run AI workloads on open models such as DeepSeek, MiniMax and Kimi at lower costs than closed systems, positioning it as a significant player in the global AI infrastructure market.
