Pune-based Kirloskar Industries Ltd. reported a 69.3% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to ₹33.7 crore for Q1FY27, compared to ₹110 crore in the year-ago quarter. According to the latest financial results, the significant decline was primarily attributed to a one-time exceptional expense of ₹29.33 crore related to stamp duty and associated fees for the merger of ISMT Limited into Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Limited (KFIL), pursuant to an order by the National Company Law Tribunal, Mumbai. This compares with an exceptional gain of ₹2.51 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Excluding this item, profit before tax from continuing operations stood at ₹134.30 crore, compared to ₹130.06 crore in Q1FY26, as reported by CNBC TV18. The company's statutory auditors Kirtane & Pandit LLP reviewed the unaudited financial results in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The results were approved by the Board of Directors on August 12, 2026.
Despite the profit decline, Kirloskar Industries demonstrated resilience in its top-line performance with revenue from operations growing 4.3% year-on-year to ₹1,779.15 crore from ₹1,705.46 crore in the previous year. The company's EBITDA slipped marginally by 1.7% to ₹214.8 crore, with margins narrowing to 12.08% from 12.82% a year earlier. The Iron Casting segment remained the largest revenue contributor at ₹1,192.09 crore, up from ₹1,035.31 crore in Q1FY26, with a segment result before tax and interest of ₹121.20 crore compared to ₹100.78 crore previously. However, the Steel segment saw robust top-line growth with revenue rising 37.7% to ₹493.83 crore from ₹358.76 crore, though its segment result declined sharply to ₹0.21 crore from ₹19.67 crore, indicating significant margin pressure. The Tube segment reported revenue of ₹540.81 crore, down from ₹595.79 crore, with a segment result of ₹40.61 crore. The Real Estate segment, represented by wholly-owned subsidiary Avante Spaces Limited, recorded a loss of ₹2.77 crore against a loss of ₹1.46 crore in the prior year. According to George Verghese, Managing Director, the performance was underpinned by strong contributions from core businesses, with Kirloskar Ferrous demonstrating operational resilience led by volume growth of 18% in Castings and 13% in Steel, driven by strong automotive and precision engineering demand.
On a sequential basis, the company's performance showed mixed trends with profit attributable to owners falling 23.9% from ₹44.26 crore in the March 2026 quarter. Revenue from operations declined 2.6% from ₹1,827.41 crore sequentially, while total expenses fell 2.8% from ₹1,712.12 crore. The sequential decline in profit was primarily driven by the exceptional merger-related expenses that impacted the quarter's overall performance. Cost of material consumed increased to ₹1,005.06 crore from ₹957.72 crore reflecting higher production volumes, while employee benefits expenses rose to ₹102.04 crore from ₹90.12 crore. Interest income rose to ₹4.69 crore from ₹3.35 crore, while finance costs decreased slightly to ₹29.67 crore from ₹34.19 crore.
