KEC International has secured its largest-ever India transmission and distribution order worth ₹2,872 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) for the design, supply and installation of 765 kV transmission lines, according to a company release filed with the BSE on October 24. The orders are linked to the evacuation of 8.5 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy from Gujarat, marking the company's largest single order for its India T&D business. As per Vimal Kejriwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KEC International, these prestigious 765 kV projects have substantially expanded the company's India T&D order book and reflect strong momentum in the company's T&D business as India expands its electricity network to accommodate rising demand and renewable energy capacity.
With the latest order wins, KEC International's year-to-date order intake has crossed ₹13,500 crore, including around ₹9,500 crore from its T&D business, as reported by CNBC TV18. The company's total year-to-date order intake now stands at ₹10,600 crore when including previous wins across transmission, distribution, civil construction and cables and conductors businesses. Vimal Kejriwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KEC International, expressed confidence about the growth prospects of India's T&D market, supported by rising energy demand and the country's continued focus on strengthening transmission infrastructure. The latest win adds to a series of contract wins announced by KEC this month, including ₹1,014 crore in domestic T&D orders on October 10, ₹1,030 crore across businesses on October 8 and ₹1,006 crore on October 23.
The ₹2,872 crore PGCIL order joins KEC International's portfolio of recent wins, which includes a 400-kilovolt transmission line in Oman, supply of towers, hardware and poles in the Americas, and a repeat order to build a multispeciality hospital for a healthcare company in eastern India. According to reports from CNBC TV18, the company also secured orders in India and overseas markets for its cables and conductors business. The diverse order book demonstrates KEC International's strong position across multiple infrastructure segments, with the company operating across power transmission and distribution, civil construction, transportation, renewables, oil and gas pipelines, and cables and conductors with a presence in more than 110 countries.
