Jupiter Wagons has secured significant new orders worth ₹264.32 crore that further strengthen its order book and demonstrate continued confidence in the company's manufacturing capabilities. The company signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with JSW (South) Rail Logistics for the manufacture and supply of five BFNSM1 rakes along with BVCM wagons, valued at ₹122.88 crore, scheduled for execution within seven months. Additionally, Central Warehousing Corporation, a Government of India enterprise, awarded a contract worth ₹141.44 crore for the manufacture and supply of eight BLSS rakes comprising 32 BLSS-A wagons, 352 BLSS-B wagons and eight brake vans, expected to be completed within one year. These orders underscore the growing demand for modern freight transportation solutions across industrial and logistics sectors, with Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Wagons, stating that these wins reflect continued confidence in the company's manufacturing capabilities and execution excellence.
Jupiter Wagons continues to progress its strategic partnership with Italy's Lucchini RS Holding and SIMEST to establish India's first fully integrated private-sector railwheel manufacturing platform. As part of the transaction, Lucchini RS will acquire a 15% equity stake in Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory (JTRWF), while SIMEST, an Italian government financial institution, will acquire an additional 10% stake. The combined 25% stake acquisition is valued at approximately €28 million, as reported by CNBC TV18. The partnership combines Jupiter Wagons' manufacturing capabilities with *Lucchini RS'*s expertise in railwheel technology, engineering and metallurgy to create a comprehensive value chain from raw material processing to finished railway wheels, axles and wheelsets. The €28 million valuation for a 25% combined stake implies a post-money valuation of approximately €112 million for JTRWF, reflecting the strategic premium placed on the integrated nature of the proposed facility.
The company's ₹3,000 crore Odisha railwheel facility is progressing as planned and is expected to commence production by the end of calendar year 2027, addressing current supply chain constraints. The facility will have a planned annual production capacity of 100,000 wheelsets and is being designed with state-of-the-art capabilities including forging, primary metallurgy, and wheel manufacturing. Nearly 40-50% of the Odisha plant's production capacity is expected to cater to export markets over the long term, with the company targeting export of approximately 50,000 wheelsets annually to the European market. The facility's purpose-built design with advanced engineering capabilities will cater to major European customers like TATRAVAG'NKA a.s., which currently consumes approximately 20,000 to 30,000 wheelsets annually to sustain its operations. The partnership leverages JTRWF's existing operational facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajanagar, which currently handles machining and wheelset assembly, while Jupiter Wagons provides a strong anchor customer base due to its significant in-house demand for wheelsets from its railway wagon manufacturing business.
Despite recent challenges, Jupiter Wagons maintains a strong financial position with consolidated net profit of ₹28.83 crore in Q3 FY26 compared to ₹103.26 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, while revenue from operations fell 25.31% to ₹780.15 crore from ₹1,044.55 crore reported in the year-ago period. The company's order book stands at ₹5,041 crore as of December 2025, providing strong revenue visibility for near-term operations. Shares of Jupiter Wagons ended 1.47% higher at ₹263 on the NSE following the latest developments, reflecting positive market sentiment around the company's strategic initiatives and order wins. The company's diversified business model across freight wagons, locomotives, passenger coaches, commercial vehicles, and ISO marine containers, combined with its wheelsets business crossing ₹500 crore of revenue with roughly 17% EBITDA, positions it well for sustained growth despite current supply chain headwinds.
