JTL Industries announced that its subsidiary, JTL Engineering, will undertake a capital expenditure of approximately ₹15 crore to expand its narrow-width HR coil manufacturing capacity. According to the latest announcement from JTL Industries Limited, this investment represents a significant expansion of the company's manufacturing capabilities in the steel processing sector, with the expansion aimed at strengthening JTL Engineering's manufacturing capabilities and expanding the range of products that can be offered. The investment aims to double the monthly production volume, thereby boosting the group's steel tube and pipe manufacturing capabilities.
The planned expansion will double JTL Engineering's HR coil manufacturing capacity from the current 5,000 MT per month to 10,000 MT per month. As reported by Business Standard, the expanded facility is expected to be commissioned in Q4 FY27, providing the company with enhanced production capabilities in the narrow-width HR coil segment. The expanded capacity will allow JTL Engineering to meet a broader range of product specifications and diverse customer requirements, enabling the subsidiary to cater to a wider range of product specifications and customer requirements. This move aligns with the company's broader strategy to strengthen backward integration within its steel manufacturing value chain.
With the proposed expansion, JTL Engineering will enhance its capability to manufacture wider narrow-width HR coils with a maximum coil width increasing from the current 9 inches (228.6 mm) to 11 inches (279.4 mm). According to the company's recent announcement, this increased width capability will broaden the range of narrow-width HR coils that can be manufactured by the company, facilitating a wider array of coil sizes for manufacturing. This upgrade allows the company to address a broader range of customer specifications and product requirements, with the enhanced facility expected to be commissioned in Q4 FY27.
JTL Engineering Limited utilises sponge iron and steel scrap as the primary raw materials for coil production, ensuring efficient raw material utilisation and reflecting the company's dedication to eco-friendly and circular manufacturing processes. The manufacturing process utilizes induction furnaces that melt these materials at approximately 1,600°C to form molten steel, which is then continuously cast into narrow-width strips. By reducing dependence on virgin raw materials, the process aims to lower environmental impact while maintaining quality standards through rigorous surface and dimension inspections.
