Industrial engineering company John Cockerill India Ltd and its wholly-owned subsidiary John Cockerill Metal International SA have secured a significant contract from JSW Vijayanagar Metallics for a CRNO project. According to reports from Business Standard, the aggregate contract value is estimated at ₹1,250-1,300 crore. The contract encompasses the design, engineering, supply, building supervision and commissioning of annealing and pickling lines for the project. The order has been awarded by a domestic entity and is scheduled to be executed within 36 months from May 2026. The company has clarified that neither its promoters nor group companies have any interest in the awarding entity, and the transaction does not fall under related-party transactions.
The contract has been structured with specific financial allocations across different entities. As reported by Business Standard, the order comprises approximately ₹550 crore for John Cockerill India, around €30-35 million for JCMI, and nearly ₹400 crore for the consortium portion with the furnace supplier group. Under the contract, JCIL and its wholly-owned subsidiary JCMI will undertake the design, engineering, supply, supervision of erection, and commissioning of two Annealing & Coating Lines (ACL 1 and ACL 2) and one Annealing & Pickling Line (APL). These facilities will be installed for JSW's Cold Rolled Non-Oriented (CRNO) steel project. These processing lines play an important role in improving the quality and performance of steel products used in industrial and electrical applications.
On the financial front, John Cockerill India reported impressive results for Q1 CY26, with consolidated net profit of ₹7.36 crore compared to a net loss of ₹2.91 crore in Q1 CY25. Revenue showed robust growth of 56% year-on-year to ₹344.52 crore during the quarter ended March 2026. The company's total operating revenue of ₹357.59 crore for the year ended December 31, 2025, demonstrates its established market position in the metallurgy sector. The new order is expected to provide strong revenue visibility for John Cockerill India over the next three years and strengthen its presence in India's growing steel manufacturing sector, particularly in the high-demand electrical steel segment.
