JBM Electric Vehicles (JBM EV) launched the next generation 'GALAXY' electric luxury coach at Prawaas 5.0 in Gandhinagar on July 10, 2026. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine, the new coach was unveiled by Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in the presence of JBM Electric Vehicles Chairman Nishant Arya. The new Galaxy coach represents India's first indigenous sleeper-and-seater electric luxury coach, showcasing 22 Maharaja reclining seats plus 20 plush sleeper berths with an onboard washroom. The company also offers another configuration with 24 Maharaja reclining seats plus 20 plush sleeper berths (without washroom). Unlike conventional city electric buses, the GALAXY has been engineered specifically for long-distance operations, featuring modular battery packs, regenerative braking, fast charging capability and electronically controlled air suspension.
As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, the JBM Galaxy offers the highest seating capacity and luggage space in its segment, designed to strengthen operator revenue potential and passenger convenience on longer routes. The Galaxy platform has demonstrated a range of over 900 km per day in operational conditions. With this launch, the JBM GALAXY coach will be available in 3 variants: seater, sleeper & seater and sleeper configurations. The coach features advanced safety technology including ADAS-enabled architecture, Electronic Braking System (EBS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), hill-hold, live surveillance cameras, emergency exits, kneeling and height adjustment features, and electronically controlled air suspension. JBM believes these additions matter because intercity operators evaluate vehicles on uptime, passenger appeal and operating cost over several years, rather than simply purchase price.

The vehicle runs on modular high-efficiency battery packs with fast charging and regenerative braking capability. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine, JBM EV is part of JBM Auto, the flagship company of the $3.3 billion global Indian conglomerate, JBM Group. The company currently claims the highest market share in India's electric luxury coach segment. JBM EV has deployed over 3,300 electric buses across 17 states and 12+ major airports in India with an order book exceeding 10,000 electric buses. Under its 3 billion e-kms promise, JBM electric buses have clocked 450 million e-kms, serving over 1.5 billion bus commuters globally. Its manufacturing facility in Delhi-NCR, the largest dedicated integrated electric bus plant outside China, has an annual capacity of 20,000 units.
As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, JBM Auto shares rose 2.73% to ₹688.30 on Friday following the launch announcement. On the NSE, JBMA touched an intraday high of ₹693 against a previous close of ₹670. The stock was trading at ₹691.05, up ₹21.05 or 3.14% as of 11:41 AM IST on July 10. The launch fits into the company's broader strategy of expanding beyond urban electric buses into premium coach transportation, where electrification is still in its early stages. Investors have largely valued JBM for its leadership in electric buses, but product launches such as GALAXY are being watched for their ability to widen the company's addressable market beyond city transport contracts and into premium intercity mobility.
