IFGL Refractories shares experienced significant momentum on Wednesday, surging 12% intraday on the BSE despite weak overall market sentiment. According to reports from the stock market, the stock opened at ₹205.95 against its previous close of ₹200.95 and touched an intraday high of ₹225, positioning it to snap its three-day losing streak.
The stock's surge was driven by strong traction following the company's announcement of a voting process for shareholders to approve the appointment of Mukesh Harshadrai Rawal as a whole-time director, designated as Director and CEO India. As reported by market sources, the appointment is proposed for a three-year term from August 16, 2026, to August 15, 2029. This development has generated positive investor sentiment and contributed to the stock's recent performance.
The company's shares have demonstrated remarkable resilience over the past six months, jumping over 42% during this period. According to market data, IFGL Refractories hit a 52-week low of ₹120.10 on March 30 this year, while reaching a 52-week high of ₹339.50 on October 6 last year. On the monthly scale, the stock has maintained an upward trajectory since June this year, indicating sustained investor confidence in the company's prospects.
Market experts are providing mixed signals on the stock's near-term prospects. Vipin Kumar, AVP-Research at Globe Capital Market, noted that the stock is exhibiting a positional price structure of lower highs and lower lows on the weekly chart, with the recent pullback rally likely facing resistance around ₹250– ₹260. Kumar highlighted that both volume and volume distribution are weak, suggesting traders should avoid this illiquid stock due to indecisive, volatile swings. Aditya Thukral, founder and analyst at AT Research and Risk Managers, observed that IFGL Refractories has been trading within the sideways range of ₹190- ₹240 and needs to close above ₹226 to create bullish momentum. He noted that a close above ₹240 could target the next resistance at ₹290, while a close below ₹190 could push prices towards ₹150.
