ICICI Securities has upgraded ICICI Lombard General Insurance to a 'Buy' rating with a target price of ₹2000, significantly higher than Motilal Oswal's ₹1730 target. The brokerage maintains its BUY rating with a revised target price of ₹2000, based on a 28x FY28E EPS of ₹71.4 (up from ₹69 earlier). According to Moneycontrol, ICICI Securities believes the recent regulatory overhaul, which lowers distribution costs, positions large incumbents like ICICI Lombard better to capture structural growth opportunities. ICICI Lombard General Insurance delivered robust financial performance in Q2 FY27, with net profit rising 15.48% year-on-year to ₹946.40 crore compared to ₹819.54 crore in Q2 FY26. According to the latest exchange filing, this growth was driven by healthy expansion in premium and investment income, despite facing significant underwriting pressures. The insurer's gross written premium increased 9.11% Y-o-Y to ₹7,702.09 crore compared to ₹7,058.86 crore in the corresponding period last year. As per The Hindu BusinessLine, the company's gross direct premium income (GDPI) reached ₹15,110 crore in H1FY27 compared to ₹14,331 crore in H1FY26, showing 5.4% growth against industry growth of 8.9%. As per the latest reports, the combined ratio increased to 107% in Q2 FY27 from 105.1% in Q2 FY26, indicating that claims and expenses exceeded premiums earned. The incurred claim ratio stood at 72.7% as of September 30, 2026, compared with 72.1% in the previous year. The expense of management ratio rose to 36.3% from 31.9% in Q2 FY26, with the ratio rising 240 basis points Y-o-Y. The solvency ratio improved to 275% from 273%.
