HSBC Holdings Plc is undergoing significant leadership changes in its India operations as Anita Mishra prepares to relocate from Mumbai to London to serve as global head of corporate sales. According to reports from Business Standard, Mishra will be replaced by Hiren Sanghvi as head of markets and securities services in India. The transition is expected to occur in the coming days, with Mishra reporting to the global head of markets and securities services in her new London role.
Mishra brings over 16 years of experience with HSBC to her new global role, as reported by Business Standard. Sanghvi, who will take over her India position, has been with the UK bank since 2005 and currently serves as head of trading at HSBC India. The staff changes follow the departure of Rahul Badhwar, who left HSBC earlier this year to join JPMorgan Chase & Co.
According to Business Standard, HSBC has established itself as a major player in India's debt markets, recently deploying at least $3 billion in bonds after attracting heavy inflows under the nation's capital-raising windows. The bank has surpassed global peers in attracting funds under that program. Global interest in India's $1.3-trillion sovereign debt market has grown significantly over recent years, with the country being included in several international emerging-market bond indexes.
As reported by Business Standard, foreign purchases of index-eligible bonds have risen by $6.5 billion so far this year, according to clearinghouse data. This growth reflects the increasing global interest in India's debt markets, with the country's inclusion in international indexes driving institutional investment flows. HSBC has been among the beneficiaries of this trend, positioning itself strategically in the expanding Indian financial markets.
