Highway Infrastructure shares jumped nearly 5% to ₹45.90 on Thursday following the company's announcement of securing a ₹220.66 crore contract from the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) for toll collection and plaza operations on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. According to the company's exchange filing, the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) was issued on September 16, 2026. Under the two-year contract, Highway Infrastructure will manage user fee collection and operate toll plazas along the expressway, deploying four patrol-cum-safety vehicles with personnel to operate them. The contract requires Highway Infrastructure to collect user fees and manage the operation of toll plazas at Gorakhpur Link Highway, with the company responsible for deploying the required patrol-cum-safety vehicles with personnel manning these vehicles.
The contract is structured with a ₹105.07 crore value for the first year, followed by a 10% escalation for the second year, bringing the total contract value to ₹220.66 crore. As reported by Business Standard, this represents a significant addition to Highway Infrastructure's toll operations portfolio. The contract encompasses the collection of user fees and operation of toll plazas along with deployment of four patrol-cum-safety vehicles with required personnel manning these vehicles for Gorakhpur Link Expressway. According to the latest exchange filing, the contract is awarded by a domestic entity and executed over a two-year period, with provision for extension of up to six months at UPEIDA's discretion. No promoter or related party transactions are involved in this contract.
This latest award follows Highway Infrastructure's ₹80.16 crore contract secured on August 21 from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for toll operations at Palayam Fee Plaza in Tamil Nadu. According to the company's announcement, that contract covers user fee collection on National Highway 44 along the Krishnagiri-Thumbipadi section between Km 94+000 and Km 180+000, awarded on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis with a 90-day tenure. The Palayam Fee Plaza is strategically located on the Krishnagiri-Thumbipadi stretch of NH-44, which connects Bengaluru, Hosur and Dharmapuri and serves key industrial belts. As reported by The Economic Times, the total cost of the project was ₹80.16 crore and the stretch benefits from connectivity to key industrial belts, supporting passenger movement, freight flow, logistics activity and toll revenue potential.
Highway Infrastructure reported mixed financial results for Q1 FY27, with revenue showing strong growth despite profit decline. The company's consolidated revenue from operations soared 170.91% year-on-year to ₹303.28 crore during the April-June quarter, compared with ₹111.95 crore in Q1 FY26. However, consolidated net profit declined 85.38% YoY to ₹1.06 crore in Q1 FY27, down from ₹7.25 crore in the same period last year. As of September 16, 2026, Highway Infrastructure has a total market capitalisation of ₹314.35 crore according to NSE data.
The positive market response reflects investor confidence in the company's continued expansion in toll operations across key highway stretches. Shares of Highway Infrastructure closed 0.53% higher at ₹43.83 on Wednesday, September 16, as reported by CNBC TV18, with the stock gaining nearly 5% on Thursday to reach the day's high of ₹45.90 on the NSE. The stock has climbed 1% in the past week but declined more than 1% over the month, with a year-to-date decline of 24%. While the stock hit a 52-week high of ₹91.30 on September 18, 2025, it touched a year's low of ₹40.10 on September 15, 2026. With a robust order book and growing project pipeline, the company is strategically positioned to capitalize on emerging opportunities in India's infrastructure and urban transport sectors.
