
According to a regulatory filing dated October 5, HCLTech announced plans to expand its HCL IT City facility with a ₹500 crore investment. The proposed expansion will create fresh capacity of up to 9.5 lakh sqft that will be able to house 4,500 technology professionals. The announcement was made on Tuesday, October 6, as HCLTech marked the 10th anniversary of its operations in Lucknow in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and HCLTech Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra. The company marked this milestone on the 10th anniversary of its operations on October 5, highlighting the facility's significant role in the organization's growth trajectory.
As reported by the company, HCLTech launched the HCL-GUVI Emerging Technology Centre at HCL IT City to equip students and professionals in the region with skills in artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics and emerging technologies. The company announced that 1,000 students across Uttar Pradesh will be trained in AI and allied technologies through its LITMUS program during FY27. Since starting operations in 2016, HCL IT City has become one of HCLTech's key global delivery centers, employing more than 12,500 people and serving over 150 global enterprises. The company's TechBee programme has already trained and employed more than 2,200 candidates from Uttar Pradesh, demonstrating its commitment to local talent development.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his appreciation for HCLTech's continued commitment to the state, stating that "Uttar Pradesh is on its way to becoming a trillion-dollar economy with representation from diverse sectors that ensure Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas. With Lucknow's AI City at the heart of that ambition, HCL IT City has, over the past decade, been the anchor of this story, contributing immensely to the region's technology and talent ecosystem." Roshni Nadar Malhotra emphasized that "Uttar Pradesh is the 'janmabhoomi and karmabhoomi' of HCL Group, where the company began its journey 50 years ago. As we celebrate the HCL Group's 50th anniversary this year, this expansion reflects our enduring trust in the talent, ambition and potential of Uttar Pradesh." She added that the proposed expansion is expected to further strengthen Lucknow's position as a technology and global capability centre (GCC) hub.
According to market data, HCLTech is set to report its earnings for the July-September quarter of the 2026-27 financial year (Q2 FY27) on Monday, October 12. The company's board of directors, at its meeting scheduled for October 12, will also consider the payment for the company's third interim dividend for FY27. This quarterly earnings announcement comes amid the company's ongoing expansion plans and strategic initiatives.

However, the development was announced after the market closed. The scrip has lost more than 1% in the past week and 7% over the month. On a year-to-date basis, it has fallen 26%. While the stock hit a 52-week high of ₹1,780.10 per equity share on February 3, 2026, it touched a year's low of ₹1,030 apiece on July 1, 2026. HCL Technologies has a total market capitalisation of ₹3.27 lakh crore as of October 6, 2026, according to data on the NSE.
