
Gujarat Themis Biosyn has announced the acquisition of 100% equity stake in MicroBiopharm Japan Co., Ltd., a Japan-based company with more than six decades of expertise in fermentation, microbial-based research, development, and manufacturing of pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals. According to company reports, the acquisition will be carried out through a wholly owned Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to be incorporated in Japan, with the transaction expected to be completed during Q2FY27 subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
The total acquisition cost stands at JPY 21.5 billion (approximately ₹1,300 crore) and will be financed through an optimal combination of debt and equity. As reported by the company, the acquisition will be carried out through a wholly owned Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to be incorporated in Japan, with the company having signed a definitive agreement to acquire the entire shareholding of MicroBiopharm Japan from funds managed or advised by T Capital Partners Co., Ltd.
In the previous trading session, Gujarat Themis Biosyn shares closed at ₹368.85, up ₹11.75 or 3.29%. According to market data, the share touched a 52-week high of ₹479.45 and a 52-week low of ₹225.75 on October 27, 2025, and March 30, 2026, respectively. Currently, the stock is trading 23.07% below its 52-week high and 63.39% above its 52-week low, with the company's market capitalisation standing at ₹4,019.18 crore.
The board of directors of Gujarat Themis Biosyn is scheduled to meet on May 25, 2026, to consider and approve the audited financial results for the quarter and financial year ended March 31, 2026. As reported by the company, the board will also consider recommending a dividend on the company's equity shares for FY26, if any. This meeting comes after the significant acquisition announcement that is expected to keep the stock in focus.
