Genus Power shares surged 6.71% today, adding ₹18.80 from the previous close to reach ₹299.00, reflecting strong investor confidence in the company's growth trajectory. The stock touched ₹300.00 and stayed near the upper end of the day's trading range, with the opening level at ₹281.95 close to the prior close. The market movement comes as investors respond positively to the company's FY27 revenue guidance of ₹6,000-6,500 crore, providing a clear operating reference point for the smart metering infrastructure firm.
According to the latest financial results, Genus Power delivered strong Q1FY27 performance with standalone revenue of ₹1,364.9 crore, representing a robust 44.8% year-on-year growth compared to ₹942.4 crore in Q1FY26. The company's EBITDA stood at ₹260.1 crore, registering a 30.4% increase over the previous year, though EBITDA margins moderated to 19.1% from 21.2% due to rising raw material costs caused by geopolitical supply issues in West Asia. Standalone Profit After Tax rose by 26.7% YoY to ₹162.8 crore, compared to ₹128.5 crore in Q1FY26, demonstrating the company's ability to maintain profitability despite cost pressures.
According to reports from CNBC-TV18, Genus Power is maintaining its revenue guidance of ₹6,000-6,500 crore for the current financial year, alongside an 18 percent margin target and one crore meter installations. The smart metering firm reported an order book of ₹24,020 crore (excluding taxes) as of June 30, 2026, providing a strong foundation for achieving these targets despite recent slowdown in tendering activity. The company expects strong order inflows over the next six to 12 months as states including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Punjab come out with new tenders, with installation momentum poised to strengthen in H2 FY27 backed by seasonality and scaling up of active AMISP projects.
According to CNBC-TV18 reports, providing an update on its platform partnership with GIC, Genus Power has invested nearly ₹550 crore in the platform to date and expects to invest more than ₹600-650 crore further based on the current order book. The platform has an order book of 3.61 crore meters, demonstrating significant scale in the smart metering sector. The company's massive order book of over ₹24,020 crore provides strong multi-year revenue visibility, with the primary challenge being execution scale-up and supply chain management rather than securing new orders.
As reported by CNBC-TV18, Genus Power expects a significant improvement in working capital in the current financial year and beyond as projects become operational following the initial investment phase. This improvement is expected to enhance the company's cash flow management and financial performance in the coming periods. The progressive operational go-live of projects will trigger high-margin recurring operations and maintenance revenues, easing working-capital requirements over the medium term.
According to CNBC-TV18 reports, addressing concerns over smart-meter installations, Genus Power said 85 lakh consumers in Uttar Pradesh already have smart meters, with 10,000 to 15,000 meters being installed every day. The company emphasized that individual instances in places such as Kalyan or parts of Uttar Pradesh should not be seen as representative of the broader states, while the pace of smart-meter installations across the country continues to progress. The company is targeting at least 1 crore smart meter installations in FY27, with accelerated installation reaching this target backed by seasonality and scaling up of active AMISP projects.
