
GAIL (India) Limited has announced the appointment of Satish Kumar Sinha as Director (Finance), effective from July 1, 2026. According to the company's regulatory filing submitted to both National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited, Sinha will succeed incumbent Rakesh Kumar Jain who is retiring on June 30, 2026. His tenure will continue until his superannuation on May 31, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The nomination was conveyed through an official letter dated June 22, 2026 (Ref: CA-31022/2/2024-CA-PNG (49911)) issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. As reported by GAIL, the company is currently in the process of completing all necessary formalities related to the appointment and will make requisite disclosures in due course under the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The appointment process involved a comprehensive selection procedure by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB). According to GAIL's statement, Sinha was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of GAIL by the PESB on March 17. He was selected for the position from a pool of 11 candidates, who were interviewed for the same post. This rigorous selection process ensures that the company has chosen the most qualified candidate for the critical finance role.
Satish Kumar Sinha is a Commerce graduate and qualified Cost and Management Accountant who began his career with GAIL in 1994 as a Management Trainee (Finance & Accounts). Over the years, he has built extensive expertise across a wide spectrum of financial functions, including corporate finance, accounting, taxation, treasury operations, budgeting, project evaluation, and mergers & acquisitions. He has also played a strategic role in business development, MoU formulation, and financial concurrence, while remaining actively involved in investor relations and engagements with the analyst community. Sinha has contributed significantly to GAIL's digital transformation initiatives, notably playing a key role in the implementation of SAP ERP systems, enhancing operational efficiency and financial transparency within the organisation.
