Rajkot-based Fieldmarshal PM Diesels has achieved a significant milestone by launching India's first Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI)-approved TREM V-compliant single-cylinder diesel engines in the 15 HP and 18 HP categories. According to latest reports, this development marks a historic moment in the company's six-decade engineering journey, with the engines designed specifically for compact tractors and agricultural machinery applications. The launch was officially announced on October 7, reflecting Fieldmarshal's focus on indigenous technology development under the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives, positioning the company to expand its presence across advanced engines, tractors, agricultural mechanisation and allied engineering solutions.
The company is targeting a 10-15% market share in India's below-20 HP tractor segment over the next three years, according to reports from PTI. The below-20 HP tractor segment accounts for approximately 3% of India's overall tractor market, with annual industry sales estimated at 40,000–45,000 units. Fieldmarshal currently serves this segment through its Shridev range of 12 HP, 15 HP and 18 HP tractors, and aims to gradually increase its market share in the below-20 HP category to achieve this ambitious goal. The company is also planning to introduce tractors up to 30 HP in the near term, while its longer-term research roadmap extends to 100 HP models for domestic and overseas markets.
The newly launched engines comply with the latest Tractor Emission Stage V (TREM V) norms, which are equivalent to BS VI emission standards for vehicles, as reported by PTI. A key feature of the new engines is the indigenously developed Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system, which helps reduce emissions while maintaining smooth engine operation and meeting the latest TREM V emission requirements. Fieldmarshal has also filed multiple national patents in India related to its TREM V engine technology, highlighting its growing investment in research, engineering development and intellectual property. The engines feature rugged construction, compact packaging, efficient cooling systems and easy maintenance, built to withstand demanding operating conditions and extended working hours. Director Rishi Patel emphasized that the launch and patent filings reflected the growing capabilities of Indian engineering, with the company building a broader product roadmap across engines, tractors and agricultural mechanisation.
Established in 1963, Fieldmarshal PM Diesels has annual engine manufacturing capacity exceeding 1.6 lakh units and operates a dedicated Shridev facility that can manufacture up to 100 tractors daily. The company maintains an international presence across more than 60 countries and is developing Euro V-compatible engines for exports. Beyond its core engine and tractor business, Fieldmarshal is diversifying into water solutions, clean energy, energy storage and cleaning equipment. A planned cleaning equipment range will include sweeping and scrubbing machines for industrial, commercial, infrastructure and municipal applications, expanding its product portfolio across multiple industrial segments.
