Exhicon Events Media Solutions (Exhicon) and ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company have announced a landmark initiative to strengthen the Exhibition Insurance ecosystem in India. According to reports from Business Standard, this partnership brings specialised risk protection closer to the rapidly expanding exhibitions and trade fairs industry, addressing the growing insurance needs of the sector. The collaboration was officially disclosed under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015 on August 26, 2026.
The initiative was unveiled at the 15th Conventions India Conclave (CIC) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on August 26, 2026, in the presence of leading stakeholders from India's and the global convention, exhibition, events and MICE industry. As reported by Business Standard, the three-day event brought together the wider convention and events ecosystem from across India and around the world.
The Conclave was jointly organised by the India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB), India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, with EXHICON serving as the Gold Partner. According to Business Standard, this collaboration demonstrates the government's commitment to supporting the convention and events sector through strategic partnerships with industry leaders.
The partnership combines Exhicon's extensive network of organisers, exhibitors, and venues with ICICI Lombard's expertise in commercial and event-related insurance solutions. Key objectives of the initiative include increasing awareness of exhibition-related risks and available insurance protection, facilitating access to appropriate insurance solutions for trade fairs, supporting organisers in understanding their specific risk exposures, encouraging better risk-management practices across the ecosystem, and creating a scalable insurance framework aligned with industry growth. Exhibitions involve significant capital deployment across infrastructure and technology, exposing stakeholders to operational, property, liability, and cancellation risks.
The partners intend to make specialised insurance an integral part of professional exhibition management in India. As per Business Standard, M Q Syed, CMD of Exhicon, highlighted the significance of unveiling the initiative at the conclave, which gathered global convention and MICE industry stakeholders. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between the exhibition industry and the insurance sector, potentially serving as a model for other niche sectors in India seeking tailored risk management solutions.
