Cyrix Healthcare has completed the acquisition of the MedTech Solutions business of Blue Star Engineering & Electronics Ltd (Blue Star E&E) with immediate effect, as announced today. The acquisition, which became effective September 1, 2026, strengthens Cyrix's capabilities in medical imaging, equipment sales, installation, maintenance, repairs, refurbishment and lifecycle management. The transaction was structured as a slump sale with consideration structured in tranches, subject to potential adjustments, with the final payment due by March 31, 2027. Advay Capital acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Cyrix Healthcare and JSA Advocates provided legal counsel for the transaction documentation. Blue Star Limited had first intimated the execution of the Business Transfer Agreement (BTA) for the sale on August 14, 2026, with the transaction closing roughly two and a half weeks later.
The acquisition integrates Blue Star E&E's expertise in multi-brand CT and MRI systems, including sales, clinical applications, installation, maintenance, repairs and equipment management across more than 250 installations into Cyrix's existing infrastructure. As reported by Business Standard, this move specifically bolsters AURUM, Cyrix's refurbished medical equipment business, by enhancing its capacity to handle refurbished CT and MRI systems. The acquisition also ensures that all existing customers of Blue Star E&E MedTech Solutions will continue to be supported by the same experienced teams to maintain service continuity. Joy K John, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Cyrix Healthcare, stated that "This combination gives healthcare providers access to deeper CT and MRI expertise, broader imaging and refurbishment capabilities, stronger service resources and a wider MedTech platform—all through a single partner."
According to the company release, Cyrix Healthcare currently employs over 1,200 biomedical engineers and technical professionals, managing more than 650,000 medical devices across 25,000 healthcare facilities. The acquisition is part of a broader strategy to build a comprehensive ecosystem for healthcare providers to manage medical technologies through a single partner. Ajith Kumar S, Co-Founder & Executive Director, emphasized that "We are privileged to carry forward a business that has earned the trust of India's healthcare community over several decades. Blue Star E&E has built a strong legacy in medical technology, and this acquisition significantly strengthens our imaging expertise, service capabilities and product portfolio while accelerating our vision of building a comprehensive Total MedTech Management ecosystem."
With the transaction now formally completed, the next phase for Cyrix will be integration of Blue Star E&E's MedTech personnel, service contracts, and customer relationships into its existing Care360 and AURUM platforms. The acquisition aligns with the broader consolidation trend in Indian MedTech, where a stronger multi-brand servicing and refurbishment ecosystem helps existing high-value imaging equipment reach and stay functional in more hospitals across the country for longer at lower costs than buying new. Cyrix Healthcare, founded in 2004 and headquartered in Kochi, has built its business around what it calls Total MedTech Management—an integrated model designed to replace the fragmented, multi-vendor approach many Indian hospitals have historically had to navigate. The company states this model helps extend the operational life of critical equipment like Cath Labs, MRIs, CTs, monitors, and anaesthesia machines by three to five years, providing meaningful capital-efficiency arguments for hospitals weighing new equipment purchases against extending the life of existing assets.
