The company is manufacturing more at its Chennai plant, producing refrigerators and front-load washing machines with adequate capacity to ramp up production. As reported by Business Standard, BSH plans to start producing bottom-freezer refrigerators in India from October and is accelerating localization efforts. The company expects to achieve 90% localization by 2030, potentially bringing this forward by one to two years due to geopolitical situations affecting raw material costs.
BSH is capitalizing on changing consumer preferences, particularly the shift toward induction cooking as an alternative to LPG during the current crisis.
