Bayer CropScience Ltd delivered mixed Q2 FY27 results with net profit rising 8.84% to ₹166.2 crore compared to ₹152.7 crore in the previous year. However, the agrochemicals and seeds maker faced significant revenue challenges, with total income declining 19.4% to ₹1,250.7 crore from ₹1,553.4 crore year-over-year. According to the company statement, expenses also decreased substantially to ₹1,052.7 crore from ₹1,366.9 crore, contributing to the improved profitability despite the revenue decline. The company also reported profit before tax growth of 6% at ₹211.4 crore compared to ₹200.3 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
The company attributed the challenging operating environment to uneven monsoon patterns affecting sowing patterns and crop protection demand, alongside lower corn acreages. As reported by Rediff Moneynews, Simon Wiebusch, Vice Chairman, Managing Director and CEO, emphasized that the company stayed focused on disciplined execution, strengthening its portfolio and scaling new innovations. The challenging conditions reflected in the company's performance, with higher corn seed production volumes and weaker market demand leading to increased inventory levels. For the half-year ended September 30, 2026, revenue declined 11% to ₹3,085.7 crore compared to ₹3,468 crore for the corresponding period in FY 2025-26.
Executive Director and CFO Vinit Jindal highlighted that profit after tax increased 9% in Q2 and 13% in the first half, supported by improved gross margins reflecting favourable production yields for corn seeds and cost efficiencies. According to Rediff Moneynews, higher corn seed production volumes combined with weaker market demand led to increased inventory levels. However, liquidity pressures in the market delayed collections and pushed up receivables marginally, though the company remains focused on disciplined working capital management and strengthening cash generation. For H1 FY27, profit before tax increased 15% to ₹613.5 crore compared to ₹535.5 crore in the corresponding last year.
The board has declared an interim dividend of ₹90 per equity share for the financial year ending March 31, 2027, amounting to ₹404.5 crore. As reported by Rediff Moneynews, Wiebusch stated that as Indian agriculture navigates increasing volatility, the company's priority is to help farmers improve productivity and resilience by bringing together innovations and partnerships across the agricultural ecosystem. The company emphasizes building a stronger and more sustainable business for the long term despite current market challenges, with the board meeting held on November 03, 2026, to declare the dividend.
