Ambuja Cement shares are facing increased scrutiny following the company's 33% profit decline in Q4FY26, as reported by ET Now. The significant drop in quarterly earnings has prompted brokerages to adopt a more cautious stance toward the cement manufacturer's stock performance. The substantial profit reduction has raised concerns among market participants about the company's operational efficiency and future growth prospects. However, the company's record quarterly revenue of ₹10,915 crore and highest-ever quarterly volume of 19.9 million tonnes (up 10% YoY) have provided some operational highlights despite margin pressures.
According to ET Now, brokerages have turned cautious following the company's disappointing quarterly results. The 33% profit drop in Q4FY26 has created uncertainty among market participants about the cement manufacturer's near-term prospects. The cautious stance from analysts reflects concerns about the company's ability to maintain profitability levels and achieve sustainable growth in the competitive cement industry. Following the results announcement, Ambuja's shares fell as low as 5% on BSE during Friday's session, as per market updates, with the stock closing at ₹509.50 on NSE and having declined over 17% in the past six months.
Despite the profit decline, Ambuja Cement delivered exceptional operational metrics in Q4FY26. The company achieved its highest-ever quarterly revenue of ₹10,915 crore and record quarterly volume of 19.9 million tonnes, representing a 10% year-on-year increase. However, EBITDA margins compressed significantly to 13.4% from 18.7% in the previous year, with EBITDA falling to ₹1,464 crore from ₹1,868 crore. The margin pressure was attributed to cost pressures from fuel, diesel, packaging bag supply constraints, and rupee depreciation, with these factors expected to continue impacting H1 FY27 performance.
To address ongoing cost pressures, Ambuja Cement is implementing comprehensive cost-mitigation measures including fuel mix optimization, higher renewable energy usage, reduced logistics costs via rail and sea, and disciplined production and inventory management. The company also completed the amalgamation of Sanghi and Penna Cement with Ambuja Cements, with Sanghi getting delisted effective April 6, 2026. Looking ahead, management expects industry demand growth at 5% for FY27, though outlook remains soft due to geopolitical challenges and an early forecast of below-normal monsoon. The company maintains its debt-free status and has proposed a ₹2 per share dividend with June 12, 2026 as the record date.
