
Agastya Green Energy Ltd., a division of the Anubhav Agarwal Group, announced on Saturday a significant expansion into Integrated 12 GW Ingot and Wafer manufacturing at the Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. According to company statements, the project carries a project cost of approximately ₹7,800 crore and will enhance the company's current capacity to manufacture solar cells and modules. The company has now performed a bhumi pooja (groundbreaking ceremony), marking the commencement of this next phase of growth.
The expansion is anticipated to create more than 3,500 jobs as part of the next stage of growth, as reported by company statements. The project will develop 12 GW of combined ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity to boost Agastya Energy's domestic manufacturing capabilities and enable higher domestic value addition within India's solar manufacturing sector. This comprehensive expansion will complement the company's existing solar cell and module manufacturing capabilities.
The integrated plant will combine ingot, wafer, cell and module manufacturing to increase domestic value addition, production efficiency, and deeper integration between the upstream and downstream parts of the solar value chain. According to company statements, this comprehensive approach aims to strengthen India's renewable energy manufacturing capabilities through enhanced vertical integration, with the facility bringing together all key manufacturing segments to enable greater domestic value addition and manufacturing efficiency.
Anubhav Agarwal, Chairman of AAG (Anubhav Agarwal Group), emphasized the strategic importance of this investment, stating that "Our ₹7,800 crore investment in Agastya Energy reflects our long-term conviction in India's energy transition and our commitment to building globally competitive manufacturing capabilities at scale." The expansion will complement the company's existing solar cell and module manufacturing capabilities, positioning Agastya Energy to play a significant role in India's renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem through enhanced domestic manufacturing capabilities.
